Cosy cottage in a fantastic location
The Barn is a gorgeous cosy cottage which has a great feel about it. Equipped with everything you need for a break away. It has a lovely big garden and parking. Located five minutes from the beautiful canal and woods. Brilliant for walking and cycling. Linda and Mick the hosts made us feel very welcome & answered any questions we had and also suggested some great days out for my family. Our children are 8 & 9 and loved the cottage. We visited Cadbury’s World, West Midlands Safari Park, Kinver Edge & Rock Houses, Black County Living Museum & The Dudley Canal Boat Limestone mine all were fantastic days out and all within a 30 minute drive from the cottage. Would definitely recommend to friends & family.

Perfect place to stay.
This cottage has everything & more you will need for your stay. Plenty of space inside & a lovely private courtyard through the french doors. You also have access to the large lawn at the top of the steps where you’ll get the warmest of welcomes from Mick & Linda. They are the friendliest of hosts and are always available if you have a question about where the best takeaway is or the nearest shops. The jukebox in the cottage was a real bonus. We spent many a night dancing away to the music. The cottage is a 2 minute walk away from the beautiful paths by the canal. One way will take you to Stourbridge town & the other direction will take you to the beautiful village of Kinver. We will definitely stay again at The Barn.

Top location for great for bike rides & walks
The cottage itself was ideal for us and perfect location for access to the canal. We took 4 bikes and there is safe storage for them at the rear. The upstairs double bed is on a mezzanine floor above the kitchen. We found it great upstairs but if you are tall you need to watch your head when showering if using the upstairs ensuite. There is not much storage space for clothes upstairs but not uncommon in holiday homes however is a very good sized wardrobe in the downstairs bedroom & ample drawers there as well and you can use the balcony rail upstairs. The seperate bathroom is good as well and ample room if bathing to younger children. The kitchen had what we needed to cook, there is a small freezer compartment in the fridge. The cottage has a great old fashioned juke box that everyone loved with some classics on it. There is a large dining table & 2 comfy sofas in the open plan kitchen/lounge/diner. The patio doors open into a small private flagged courtyard that has patio table & chairs. Ideal after a day out. There are steps up to the owners in large garden and they said we were free to use. The washing m/c is between the downstairs bedroom & bathroom behind a door of its own, opposite the back door. The owners live next door and pointed us in the right direction with regards to meals out, local attractions and where the canals went. If biking the cottage is on a bridleway 2 minutes from the Stourbridge Canal, head right towards Dudley and you can join the Dudley No. 1 canal, head left and you are soon at the junction with the Staff. & Worcs. canal, sign posted to Stourport in one direction & Wolverhampton in the opposite. It's a 14 mile bike ride to Stourport & the River Severn. If walking there are the canals, River Stour and loads of fields & woodland directly from the cottage. The local Nisa shop is a 7 min walk through the estate (chippy next door) and there is a Sainsbury's local about 12 min walk away. Every other type of shop / supermarket you may need is within a 15 min drive. WiFi throughout the property must be good as no complaints of the teenager.

Quirky cottage
A lovely quirky cottage. Clean and comfortable with a juke box of 100 records 1960 vintage. Although the kitchen fixtures were good the kitchen inventory was not so good. No meat fork, rusty bread knife, three and half pairs of scissors (none of which was any good), three wine glasses, three tumblers and three cereal bowls. There were other glasses and dishes available but that’s not the point. I would recommend this property to friends but also point out the deficiencies. Would not recommend to couples with any physical problems. The spiral staircase is a challenge.

The Barn is a clean, comfortable and homely place to stay. Great walks on the doorstep as well as short drives to places of interest. Linda and Mick are very welcoming hosts. Loved our stay and would come again should we get the chance.

Lovely Barn small and comfortable
Nice location walks nearby with canal, Barn was small for 4 people but very comfortable, needed more hanging places for clothes upstairs and kitchen short on crockery. Upstairs was very warm and downstairs was much colder , could have done with a welcome pack few groceries etc no soap in bathrooms or toilet rolls. All in all had a nice stay but needed some basics.

Great find
I live locally and moved here while our kitchen was being renovated. Initially we had booked just a week but we stayed longer as our house was in quite a state. We were so glad that we’d found such a comfortable stylish place. It has everything you could want in a self catering cottage. Quiet location with parking right outside the front door. We have told Mick and Linda to expect our relatives from Australia next year as it’s the perfect spot for anyone visiting the area.

About the neighbourhood
Stourbridge is know world wide for its glass industry. The Crystal works have changed with the passing of the years and has been replaced with exciting new designers and a Glass Bienale is now held in the town every 2 years attracting visitors from every corner. There are some great places to eat, good pubs and a choice of Indian, Italian and Chinese restaurants within a 5 minute car journey. Beautiful canal walks or bike rides along the canal. The cottage is located in Stourton, halfway between the town of Stourbridge and the pretty village of Kinver. Staffordshire, Shropshire and Worcester all meet within 5 miles from here.
Getting around
A car is useful but not essential and many guests use the local buses to get around if they chose not to drive. Bikes can be safety locked away, and with the canal just 2 minutes down the bridle path it’s the perfect spot for cyclists. (We have had Olympians stay here). The local Taxi service is excellent too.
