All attractions are in easy walking distance, including restaurants, café bars, banks, estate agents, a chemist, small supermarket, bread shops within 150 metres. Carrefour Contact supermarket is 10 minutes walk and stocks most things you might need on your holiday. It is possible to holiday in Duras without a car (contact details for airport transfer services can be provided on request), but public transport is not available locally, so access to a car is recommended if you would like to enjoy all amenities the surrounding countryside, towns and villages have to offer. Peak season is July and August when Duras really comes to life with various festivals, weekly night markets, exhibitions, Château tours and a popular wine festival. There is an outdoor swimming pool available for public use 10 km away in Monsegur, and a larger indoor / outdoor pool complex 25 km. Various lakeside and river beaches are within a 30+ minute drive and offer a great family day out. Other activities include golf courses, horse riding, canoeing and boat trips, and of course many opportunities for walking or cycling in the beautiful countryside surrounding Duras (bicycle hire is available in Duras). Duras is in the heart of wine country boasting many independent wineries offering complementary tastings - some also have gastronomic evenings with locally produced specialities to complement your wine. The area is also famous for delicious prunes, hazelnuts and for chocolates combining the two in irresistible sweet treats..! Locally sourced duck products, tasty cheeses and a huge variety of fruits and vegetables are on offer at Duras Monday morning traditional French market. Inside the house, all appliances are shiny and new, there are comfy sofas and UK satellite TV, a lovely long dining table, plus a first floor sunny dining terrace with BBQ. Free WiFi is available. On the ground floor there's a bright 11 metre (36 ft) open plan living / dining room, a shower room, separate toilet and a bright fully fitted and equipped kitchen (fridge freezer, full electric oven, gas hob, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle and coffee maker). Double doors from a sunny hallway open to a passage leading to rue Chavassier - a quiet road with free on-street parking. Enclosed stairs lead to another shower room with toilet and sink, and three bedrooms. The front bedroom is lovely and sunny with two windows and has a large 160 cm ( 63 inch) double bed. The rear bedroom is also very bright and airy with French doors to the dining terrace and a 140 cm (55 inch) double bed. A more compact internal third bedroom has two 90 cm (36 inch) single beds, natural light coming from a skylight into the attic. All the bedrooms have plenty of storage. Bed linen is provided for your stay as are towels for bathroom use. If you would like towels for sun bathing etc please bring these with you. A very generous allowance for electricity and water is included, but we reserve the right to pass on actual cost of excess units. If you have any questions after reading all of the above please contact us via the website and we will be pleased to respond as quickly as possible.More

About the neighbourhood
The property is two minutes walk from the main market square where most animations take place, but remains far enough away not to be badly affected by noise. You will find a choice of open air cafés and restaurants where you can sit in the sunshine and watch the world go past.
How to get there
Many people choose to drive down from channel ports to Duras. The closest channel port is Saint Malo at 600 km with ferries operated by Brittany Ferries - the drive down takes 6 to 7 hours (depending on stops) using the Auto-route network. Car hire is available from Bergerac airport (40 km) and Bordeaux airport (104 km). Duras has free on-street parking with an ample mixture of roadside and car park spaces very close to the property. Airport transfers can be arranged on request.
