Holiday Rental House
The house is a traditional croft house which has had it's barn converted to give additional living space. There is a large kitchen diner in the downstairs of the barn, with the master bedroom and en-suite above. The original house has two reception rooms and a bathroom on the ground floor, and three bedrooms above. There is central heating which is supplemented by wood burning stoves in each of the main downstairs rooms....The house is a traditional croft house which has had it's barn converted to give additional living space. I live about an hour away from the croft, so the keys will be available to be collected when you arrive and you will be able to explore the house without a guided tour.
There is an information booklet that gives details of how things work, I have tried to include everything I can think of without making it too much of a chore to read though, but if there are any questions I am available by phone anytime.
We spent 4 nights in Kate's Croft earlier this month and really enjoyed our time! It's a very characterful house, done up in a modern but cosy style. We loved the kitchen (very well equipped!) and all the games and jigsaws, and the warm and...More
It was our third trip to Scotland and this cottage was the best place we stayed in. If you love wildlife as we do, want to get away from big city ( we are from London) that’s the perfect place for you.
We had been driving all day and arrived really late so it was really nice to arrive to a lovely warm cottage. We didn't get to enjoy the beautiful view until the next morning but it is truly a beautiful and peaceful spot. We took...More
Whilst we had a perfectly pleasant stay, please see below some feedback for you:
The kettle spills every time it is poured.
The double bed above the kitchen is supremely uncomfortable and we had to leave a day early as my back couldn’t hold up...More

Hi, as we replied in the review you left on Reevew a few weeks ago, we are glad that you had a pleasant stay, though we are sorry that our house was not to your taste. We appreciate the feedback that we get from our...More
Gartymore is part of a crofting estate, and the surrounding countryside is still actively crofted. There is a wealth of wildlife quite literally right outside the door, deer and buzzards are often seen from the house, but golden eagles, otters, dolphins, slow worms and lizards have also been seen from the front garden. Helmsdale village has a selection of local amenities, with a general grocers, Post Office, Library, Heritage center and art gallery and selection of cafe's, restaurants and gift shops, you can get most things you might need. Places worth visiting are Dunrobin Castle, Falls of Shin, and any of the beaches. There are plenty of walks on the surrounding hills, as well as mountain bike trails in Golspie.
The most convenient way to get around is by car. The train runs between Inverness and Wick, and can be a lovely trip in itself to see the scenery, but times are limited, so check the timetable to make sure there is a train back later in the day.
