This 3 storey house was originally a fisherman's cottage. It has been newly refurbished and is now ready for summer holiday lettings. It provides all the usual modern conveniences to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. There is free unlimited ADSL wifi as well as satellite TV with UK 'freeview' channels and various French channels. A chromecast dongle allows you to stream programs and films from your mobile phone to the TV. As well as electric heating in every room, there is also a cosy log burning stove in the lounge for when the evening turn cooler. A contemporary dining area is provided and alfresco dining can be enjoyed by guests in the courtyard below the property. A table and chairs are provided for this purpose. The sleeping accommodation is in two bedrooms in the roof space. The master double bedroom has views of the sea and an en-suite wc and sink. The second bedroom is furnished with a single bed that converts to a pull-out double bed and is light and airy with wardrobe storage space. There is also a double sofa bed in the lounge. A newly fitted modern bathroom provides a power shower, washbasin, and wc. There is a butler sink and washing machine in the basement. There is a pool table and dart board set up in the basement for the use of guests and an open air table tennis table free to use on the seafront just 50 m away (bats and balls are provided for guests). There is also public parking directly opposite the house which is free to use throughout the year.More

Once the booking is confirmed I will contact you with directions to the house and to provide you with useful information about the area. There is also a Welcome Pack left at the property and a folder with various leaflets provided by the local tourist information centre to help you get the most out of your stay in the area. This house is not suitable for the elderly or young children under the age of 7 years due to its steep spiral staircase and lack of stair gates. Bedlinen and towels are provided free of charge.

About the neighbourhood
Grandcamp Maisey is an excellent jumping off point to tour nearby historic WWII sites. In 1944 the town of Maisy was the site of a German heavy artillery battery and the headquarters for the sector. Located between Omaha Beach and Utah Beach, Pointe du Hoc, just a few miles from the cottage along the coast, is one of the key heritage sites along the D-Day Landing beaches in Normandy. A few steps from the landing beaches you will discover ancient architectural heritage farms and churches, castle ruins, and natural landscapes of extraordinary diversity including coastal marshes and woods. The northern French town of Bayeux is best known for the tapestry that depicts the 11th-century Norman Conquest.
Getting around
Grandcamp Maisey is equidistant from the ferry terminals at Caen to the north and Cherbourg to the south. Both are less than 1 hours drive away using the N13 toll free motorway. Brittany Ferries have daily direct sailings from Portsmouth to Caen and Cherbourg and from Poole to Cherbourg, Condor also sail from Portsmouth to Cherbourg. Irish Ferries sail from Dublin and Rosslare to Cherbourg. There is an airport at Deauville north of Caen and about 1 hour 15 mins drive from the house with direct flights from London Stansted with Ryanair
