Holiday Rental House
A stylish nest on the ramparts of an ancient fishing port, with sparkling lagoon views from a top-floor living area. The winding, flower-scented streets of Mèze lie midway between medieval Montpellier and sandy Mediterranean beaches at Sète and Marseillan. This once-upon-a-time white fisherman’s house stands three storeys high on the old town’s ramparts, overlooking the sparkling Étang de Thau with its oyster beds. Scamper up to the top level, where an open-plan living/dining area with a comfortable sofa bed for two and modern kitchen gleam in the light from a huge window overlooking the water. Crack open the wine and nibbles, then head down a floor to the intimate bedroom – flowing white curtains, cotton sheets and wooden floor boards – and adjoining salon. Tiny but perfectly formed, the salon has a big mirror to multiply space and light, and French windows opening out to a balcony where you can toast the view (again). It’s all deliciously intimate, from the narrow stairs to the tiny shower room, but there’s room for six at the dining table (there are extra beds for the kids). The quiet cul-de-sac is steps away from the bustle of Mèze’s covered market, and from the fishing boats that bring your dinner to the seafood restaurants lining the lagoon.More

About the neighbourhood
Maison de Thau sits on the ramparts of Meze overlooking stunning views of L'Etang de Thau: The E’tange de Thau is the oyster capital of the region. The oyster farms enhance the stunning view over to Sete and the Mediterranean beyond. Maison de Thau has a privileged panoramic view of this. The Port Meze’s star attraction is the beautiful harbour. Pretty restaurants and bars line the port, and you will find no shortage of fabulous places to eat and drink. The Beaches Take a stroll from the house along the ramparts below the castle wall, you will u will arrive at one of Meze’s two beaches. The second beach is to the right of the port/
Getting around
Everything you could want is on your door step in Meze; The beach, restaurants & shops are all less than 5 mins walk. However if you do want to explore there is no shortage of things to do; The Mediterranean with is beautiful long stretches of beaches and cool beach clubs is a 20 min drive around the lagoon. We are in the heart of wine-tasting country. So a trip to a historic vineyard is a must! Montpellier is only 20 min drive and is a beautiful medievel city steeped in history. The Pyrenees is just over an hours drive, so at the right time of year you could hit the slopes and be back home in time for dinner on the port!
