Overlooking beautiful Laguna de Apoyo .. a warm, crystal crater lake 15 minutes outside of the colonial city of Granada, Nicaragua. The house has ample space for a group or family of 8 people and is nestled in a tropical forest with regular visits from local monkeys, iguanas and a variety of birds. If you're looking for peace and tranquility and a getaway this is the place to be. There are a variety of restaurants and kayak rentals nearby. For a change of pace you can esily visit the nearby (15 minute drive) colonial city of Granada or surrounding volcanos.

Alchemy on the Lake!
I have lived in and visited many homes in my life and Alchemy on the Lake is the only one that I have felt I can truly breathe when I am there. It's a very deep knowing/feeling that I am somewhere very special. You can walk right from the property to the lake - it's your very own oasis.
Esther and Andy are incredible hosts. Esther is an excellent communicator. She organised transport for us from SJDS to the Laguna return (whom were excellent) and organised a tour with Andy of the Masaya volcano for us. She thinks of everything and was great checking in if we needed anything.
I can't recommend the Masaya Volcano tour with Andy highly enough. Friends of ours went the night before us without a guide and completely missed the magic that we saw, because Andy knew exactly where to take us. The experience I had at Masaya volcano because of Andy was incredible - life changing really! I am afraid of heights (well falling and dying LOL) but Andy gave me the courage to keep going to the top and it was magnificent. We had the live volcano with the sunset behind it on one side of us and on the other the full moon. It was incredible!!! Our friends were very envious of our experience. Andy also took us through the museum and shared so much wisdom with us. His love and passion for his country was and is truly inspiring and moving!! We learnt so much from him and he made it so much fun to learn as much as we could.
Alchemy has everything you could ever want/need. What Airbnb has nutritional yeast!!!??? Alchemy does LOL!! It's so peaceful there and Gloria and her family that look after you and the home are super lovely and kind too.
I came to stay at Alchemy at a challenging time in my life. When I left I felt like my soul had been nourished and was ready for the next chapter. I have to say though, I really didn't want to leave, and as I left and looked at the lake one more time and soaked up the magic, there was a heart shaped cloud in the sky. I knew that meant that leaving Alchemy on the lake, I was also leaving a piece of my heart there and that I would definitely be returning.

Beyond magical - the lake water, the land, the multiple beautiful spaces for complete peace, healing and rest.
I have been to Nicaragua 3 times and not visited Laguna de Apoyo. I thought it was just another lake with tourists. Wow, was I wrong. This place is a treasure of Nicaragua. The lake water is hauntingly beautiful - imagine swimming in warm water sitting in a giant crater caused by an imploded volcano. It is not to be missed. And, neither is Esther's beautiful, comfortable sprawling house with whimsical decor and spacious freedom. If you want an unexpected magical experience, come here.

Dream stay!
We stayed here for two months and didn’t want to leave at all… We dreamed of being in a place to be surrounded by nature in a quite remote setting and this was it. Waking up every morning at the lake side en going to swim of doing some yoga at the platform was bliss. Everything is a as described by the owners and as the pictures show. I recommend to book, when still available.

A Beautiful Place!
My Family enjoyed the time in Alchemy! It is a place where you can feel the peace, you can see all the God’s gifts and stay with the family was the best.

Paradise on Earth
This is the 6th? 7th? time my family has visited Alchemy. I honesty cannot describe the peace and spiritual and physical harmony that resonates for us there. Of course the house is perfect and the hosts, Esther and Andy, always add special touches- like fresh oranges or starfruit. But is more than this. The simplicity of the lake and the direct access make your focus there one of calm and also activity. You can swim, my husband mountain bikes for hours, I run and we watch the stars greet the evening with joy. You can walk to local restaurants, but we use the fully equipped kitchen to make dinner and sit outside and become rejuvenated. This place is paradise for our family. If you EVER coming to Laguna de Apoyo, you should stay here. You will not regret it. I am already planning our next trip.

Unforgettable week❗️🤗🤗
My family of six had an awesome experience at the house on the Lake, I couldn’t have enough of it, I would even enjoy it early in the morning, the sound of calming waters hitting the rocks, the birds, the breathtaking view worthy of a big portrait in a gallery; the house itself was super confortable, spacious and clean, everything was on point, even hot water, which we didn’t need because the weather only requires fresh water showers.
Simply one of my Best vacation home stay in Granada/Masaya.
Thanks Esther you made it so easy for us👍🏼.

Amazing, relaxing and beautiful setting
This little slice of heaven is your respite from the stresses of every day life. Truly quiet, except for the amazing birds that inhabit the surround area. This is a special place for relaxation, water activities, lying in a hammock and reading or just having a siesta. Cook your own meals, make your own snacks venture out on the road for a nice walk, and sleep with a cool breeze blowing through the bedroom.
Esther has made this home warm, friendly easy to enjoy for all you book a stay here. Don’t wait, you won’t regret your stay here, in fact it will leave you wanting more!

A True Jewel of a Stay!
Wow, Alchemy on the Lake was such a wonderful place to stay. Laguna de Apoyo is a true gem, with perfect water for swimming, kayaking, and some of the most stunning sunrises you’ll ever see. There is also a hot springs in the lake just a few minutes walk away from the house.
The accommodations were amazing, the house is spacious, open, and super comfortable. It’s tucked away just enough to be quiet and private, but only a few minutes walk to the nearby markets and hotels where you can find restaurants and other amenities. Esther and Andy were extremely gracious hosts and made sure that I was comfortable and had everything I needed. You’ll be surrounded by howler monkeys, coconut trees, and warm tropical breezes while you enjoy the hammock, the breathtaking views from the deck, or going for a dip in the lake. Such an amazing experience and would recommend it to anyone looking for a soul-cleansing tropical getaway :)

A Home Away from Home
I recently had an opportunity to stay with family at this beautiful home. It offers all the comfortable beds and a large kitchen with everything you need. You can relax with a book or glass of wine on the swing under the pergola or just laze in the hammocks. Walk down to the lake just steps away and take a dip to cool off in the lake. Plenty of places to walk or hike around the area. A great experience!!

A lil piece of paradise!
I stayed for 2 nights at Esther's place and wish I could have stayed for the rest of the month. Better planning next time! It is a beautiful house that is very clean and the grounds are well managed. Beautiful patio and pergola that over looks the laguna and you can walk right down to private beach.
WIFI, paddle board, comfy beds, hammocks, full kitchen (with a big fridge to keep the beer cold) ... really I did not want to leave this lil piece of paradise.

About the neighbourhood
Alchemy on the Lake is located in the Laguna de Apoyo EcoReserve .. it is approximately 50 minute drive from the International Airport and 20 minute drive from the colonial city of Granada! We are located lakeside and between Masaya and Granada ..
Getting around
Although a car is not necessary for those staying longer periods of time you may want to rent a car for a portion of your stay. There are however several local buses per day which are not always reliable but inexpensive! As well one of the nearby resorts has a shuttle bus that transports people between Apoyo Lagoon (Laguna de Apoyo) and Granada at set times (approx. $3/person/one way) ... I'm happy to arrange transportation and tours for those who want to see the area including .. active Masaya Volcano, dormant Mombacho volcano .. cloud forest or Las Isletas for a kayak or boat tour.

We are located 500 metres south of the Triangle (Laguna Beach Club is located at the triangle which is the intersection at Laguna de Apoyo where you either turn left or right ... to get to Alchemy you turn right and go 500 metres .. you will see an orange spray painted post... turn left here and we're the first place on your left).
