Overview
Cottage -
1 Bedroom , 1 Bathroom , Sleeps 2
Milverton, Somerset, England
Stone Cottage is a pretty little cottage nestling off the main street, in the heart of Milverton. This cottage is all about comfort. Perfect for a romantic getaway, it has been sympathetically renovated and is beautifully and carefully equipped to a very high standard. The layout is unusual with just four rooms (kitchen, living room, bathroom and bedroom) each on a different level, but only a few steps between each one. It is equipped with gas central heating, a wood-burning stove in the living room and under-floor heating in the bathroom. Wi-fi is available throughout the property.
Sitting room
Stripped pine floors, original red brick fireplace with wood burner, extremely comfortable Sofa Workshop settee with feather cushions, dining table and chairs. There is a large flat-screen TV, with freesat and a DVD player. The large south-fa...

Interaction with guests
We are a retired couple, who have lived in Somerset for several years but neither of us come from this area. Steve was brought up in South London, and Edwina comes from West Yorkshire. Now we are retired we spend part of our time in France and part in the UK. When we are away the cottage is cleaned and prepared for new guests by Annie, a local lady. She will provide the welcome pack etc, and normally calls in soon after you arrive, to make sure you have everything you need. Annie knows the village and the area if you need any further information.

Milverton was chosen for its accessibility to the West Somerset Railway. We also enjoyed visiting 3 National trust properties in the area - Knights Hayes, Barrington Court and Montacute House - all well worth a visit. We loved the cottage and enjoyed the wood burner...More

Local amenities
Milverton is steeped in history; most of the village is encompassed in a conservation area, and many of the houses are listed. The atmosphere in the main streets is reminiscent of a Jane Austin novel. And if you are foodies, you couldn’t be better placed. There is an excellent village shop which sells high class local meat, organic veg, fresh fish, high quality frozen meals from the ‘Cooks’ range and even 13 amp fuses. It’s also an off-licence.
Don’t want to cook? The Globe is just 150 yards down the road – a superb local pub which serves award winning food.
Less than 10 miles driving from Exmoor National Park in one direction and the Quantock Hills in the other. Marvellous walks in all directions.
Getting around
Milverton is best accessed by car, although there is an hourly bus service from Taunton, which is 8 miles away and has a mainline railway station, and a bus station from which National Express buses operate.
Milverton is only 6 miles from the M5, 45 miles from Bristol airport and about 25 miles from the north Somerset coast.

There are several parking spaces on the road outside the cottage. If they are full, there are more spaces in North Street just around the corner. When you arrive at the cottage, you will find a laminated 'Unloading at Stone Cottage' sign which you can place in your car windscreen if there isn't a space right outside.
