Casa de Tartaruga is an exquisite boutique bungalow located in the prime location of North goa. Staying in this beautiful old bungalow gives a feel of staying in your own holiday home. A sprawling half an acre garden with myriad sitout options make outdoor experience extraordinary. They offer a beautiful pool overlooking the dining area. The sitting options inside the bungalow are as comfortable as outside options. The rooms instantly feel so comfortable you feel like being in your own cosy nook. The size of all the bedrooms and washrooms are generous. The bungalow has lovely antique wood furnitures, giving you a feel of old world. The entire property at all times was spic and span. The caretaker is a humble man, ready to help with everything. Honey, the owner was always available on phone. Gave some wonderful suggestions about the area nearby, helping us explore north Goa to our heart’s content.

We stayed at Casa De Tartaruga from 22-24 Feb 2020. We were a group of 8 women from Mumbai & travel to Goa every year for an all girls trip. We got the villa at a decent price, the reviews were good everywhere & the pictures looked very good (thats the reason why we booked). However, our experience at the villa was average- - Its a very old & poorly maintained villa in need of renovation. - There is a huge garden at the entrance ( its more of a forest as there is no landscaping & huge trees everywhere with a monkey zone & a well). - There is a Gazebo and Hammock as well which is good. The staff willingly served is tea at the Gazebo which is good. - The rooms are okayish. There were atleast 50 power cuts. Supply kept coming & going. ACs were switching off and on all the time. - The washrooms were very very disappointing. Very very small & smelly & in dire need to renovation. You can’t have such washrooms in a commercial villa. No exhaust fans. Water pressure is low. Unclean !! - The pool had murky water & had bird droppings/ leaf dropping. Water wasn’t clean. Pls check the attached pictures. Sun beds were very very dirty. Sofa at the pool area was extremely dirty & there were cigarette burns on it. - Music system was there but we weren’t able to bring the speakers near to the pool as it was a JBL soundbar attached to the TV - HUGE CONCERN was a CCTV at the pool area. YOU CANT HAVE A CCTV near the pool. It definitely made us very very uncomfortable. - Food was very average. The cook Lata won’t put any salt or any masala saying she fears food might turn out to be very salty. We asked her to prepare Paneer Tikka, Bhel & Bhajjia for our evening party. Everything was below average. So for next nights dinner, we ordered in. Breakfast was very average too & so was tea. - Ashok was helpful. Also, the cohost Justin was very helpful & guided us to some very nice places(restaurants & clubs). - The cook & the other lady were almost sitting idle all the time & we heard them discussing us that we could break the glassware as we were drinking near the pool area. We had to calm them down & told them we are responsible enough to do that. Still they took our glasses away & gave us cheap plastic ones. - On the last days, monkeys came inside & started drinking pool water. See the pictures attached. Overall very average for the price. Pls look for better options as there would be many if you’re staying in Vagator area.

Located in Assagaon, close to Vagator, this tastefully decorated villa impressed us from the word go! The rooms are spacious, the amenities all well thought out and the host and the manager very prompt and helpful. Lata maushi's food was fresh and delicious. We were a stone's throw away from some lovely beaches and classy restaurants. It's a pity we couldn't use the pool 'cause it had too much chlorine that day. Also, we were a bunch of girls and had to be super careful about locking and unlocking the door during entry and exit- but given that it's a private villa not a hotel, that was our responsibility. All in all, we had a wonderful stay and will visit again! Justin's recommendations on restaurants to try the local cuisine were the icing on the cake!

For anyone traveling in a big group and looking for exceptional quality and service oriented non hotel accommodation, this is the place to book. The villa is tastefully appointed and offers one plenty of character. There is a very large open space with well kept lawns that keeps the kids occupied and the swimming pool though small is an added bonus. The living and dining spaces are just what is needed to unwind and bond with loved ones. The bedrooms are all large and most have an attached balcony. The staff offer very personalised and prompt service and is ably helmed by Honey who owns the villa and Justin who is the manager. One has an option to cater for meals from the in-house cook and all the meals we had at the villa were delicious and authentic Goan. All in all this villa was just what we were looking for for our family reunion and it allowed us a perfect opportunity to spend some quality time together. Highly recommended. Thanks Honey, Justin and team for a memorable trip.

The property manager was good and has good local contacts and got us tables at the more popular joints in the area like Thalassa as we were big group with 10 adults and 10 kids. Quite prompt, helpful and courteously explained the house rules. Overall property was clean and spacious and decor was great. Pool water was quite cold in Feb so sadly we could barely use the pool. The caretaker Ashok and other staff, Lata the cook were also quite helpful. The caretaker did alert us of the water system, but we didnt quite figure out the water system. So kids need to be supervised during bath times as they could burn themselves with hot water as the temperature of the water changes if any other bathroom in the villa gets used.

Hello, on behalf of the staff and management of Casa de Tartaruga, I'd like to thank you for choosing to stay with us in Goa. We're glad you had a good time at Casa de Tartaruga, and thanks for the kind words in your review. As for the hot water in all bathrooms, we've made our property as eco-friendly as we could, and in doing so we use a central solar water heater for all the bathrooms. Unlike a geyser which can be switched off when not in use, solar panel water heaters are always on, thereby providing you with hot water 24/7. We've trained our staff to get our guests acquainted and oriented with not just the water heater system but the entire property. We look forward to hosting your family again sometime. Wishing you safe travels always!

From the lovely Lata aunty who cooks the most scrumptious food to Ashok and Gajanand who help you out with even the smallest requests, everything about this villa says 'homely' and 'comfortable'. It has been decorated beautifully and there's clearly been some thought about all the smaller details. The villa is just a short distance from Chapora and Vagator beach, but with the amazing private pool in the back, you might not even feel like going to the beach at all! My friends and I had an amazing four days there, thank you so much!

I absolutely loved the property. There is very little that I have wrong or negative to say about this property. We were a group of 10 adults and 1 toddler travelling from New Delhi and although we've been to Goa before for like 7 times, this was the very first time we visited Goa in Monsoon, plus this was the very first time we stayed in Vagator. We've tried a lot of properties from hotels, to Airbnb but hands down, this was by far the best property we'd stayed-in in Goa. Sarab, the owner was always so prompt with any sort of communication and payments and everything. At the same time, Justin, the property Manager was very helpful in coming up with suggestions and experiences we asked for. He helped us out with our Airport transfers and local rentals (Activa scooters, Hatchback car, bikes) as well. Jaya Aunty was super cooperative with our elaborate food demands given 2 people in the group were vegan, some were vegetarians, some were non-vegetarians and we also had a child with us. The house is so beautifully maintained. Super clean and so pretty. They took care of the littlest of things like having ample towels in each room, apt toiletries, pool towels, Bluetooth alarm set in every room, etc. I just have the following 3 points that stood out a little negative for me, it could be seen as points of improvement by property owners: 1) The Wi-fi was really bad. We actually never even got to use it because it never connected to any of our devices. 2) They had a rule about not accessing the pool after 10:00 p.m. And we were a little bummed about this. Given we are renting out an entire space to live in it as our own and though we took all other rules on point and abided by it; this particular pool rule was a disappointment. 3) Last, and the most important critique - There was no fan or Air-conditioning in the Dining area. It used to get so hot and humid while dining that we would all want to just take our plates and sit in the living room instead. As the dining area is big and open from a lot of ends, it's a little difficult to get cooling in that room from the living room. It needs its own ceiling fan or air-conditioning for sure.
