The anticipated new user fee for driving popular Black Point Wildlife Drive, which was scheduled to begin September 01, 2011, has been delayed for a few weeks. The user fee, once instituted, is expected to be $5.00 per vehicle. Annual Passes are sold at the Refuge Visitor Center for $15.00, which will also be honored for adjacent Canaveral National Seashore. The user fee will raise the revenue necessary to maintain the elevated gravel drive and keep it open year-round. Bird and wildlife watchers have made the drive very popular over the years, and it's the center piece of Titusville's annual Space Coast Birding & Wildlife Festival every January. America The Beautiful/Golden Age Passports, Federal Duck Stamps and Canaveral National Seashore Daily or Annual Passes will also be accepted.
