No visit to Winchester and Northern Shenandoah Valley is complete without a visit to The Shoppes at Creekside Station, by far the best shopping only 1.5 miles north on US Route 11 off I-81 Exit 310 and just 3.5 miles straight south of the Winchester City center (Braddock Street/Valley Ave/US Route 11).  Creekside Station has an eclectic blend of outstanding retailers and dining venues in a friendly and relaxing Main Street setting of tree-lined streets, lush landscaping, brick sidewalks, Victorian Lampposts and park benches. Retailers such as Ponte Vecchio Living (furniture and home decor,, J.Barreket (unique gifts and decor), Creekside Gifts (, Shenandoah Fine Chocolates and Lavender Moon Soap Company ( The Shoppes at Creekside Station offer several restaurant choices including Wyld Thyme Cafe & Wine Bar (, The Chocolate Bar Restaurant,  IJ Cann's (, and The Butcher's Choice. These are just a few of the phenomenal shopping and dining experiences to be found at Creekside Station.  The Historic District downtown also has some great, unique shops and some excellent restaurants, particularly along the Loudoun Street Pedestrian Mall, a closed-to-traffic four block walking mall. It's great fun to poke around that area, walk under the big trees on the brick walkway and explore. There's a great Civil War museum (the Old Courthouse) where you can see soldier's graffiti preserved on the walls - fascinating stuff!  Be sure to also visit the gift shops and surrounding vendors around the George Washington's Headquarters, the Stonewall Jackson Museum, and the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley.  There's a superb farmer's market just a few blocks (easy walk) west of downtown on Amherst Street, and the wonderful Winchester Little Theater. Despite all the incredible options for superb shopping and dining, if you find yourself in need of a mundane big box, Pleasant Valley Road is the main big box thoroughfare.
