The performing arts are thriving in Tallahassee, with both the city and the university putting on performing arts evens throughout the year.

The Tallahassee-Leon County Civic Center is the main city stage for performing arts.  The arena here seats thirteen thousand guests and offers events including concerts by modern pop stars, Broadway and Off Broadway musicals, sporting events.  More information about performing arts events going on at this venue can be found by visiting their website at

The city is also opening a new performing arts theater venue, under the direction of the The Tallahassee Performing Arts Center Committee which will be organizing events in the upcoming seasons.

Florida State University is another home to performing arts in Tallahassee.  The FSU Theater offers seven to ten performances each year, usually running from October through April.  These are student performances of well-known plays and musicals.  More information can be obtained at At the end of the seasons is a special arts festival called Seven Days of Opening Nights ( which has drawn such hosts as famous horror writer Stephen King.

Theatre A La Carte is North Florida's premiere musical theatre company. They produce a wide variety of contemporary musical theatre. The shows performed include a mixture of new releases, challenging works not usually performed in community theatre, and cult classics.
