Glenwood Spring offers tons of sports and activities to keep all of its visitors thoroughly entertained. Actually, the reason that a good majority of this town’s visitors come is for the wealth of outdoors activities.
The things to do in Glenwood can be divided into two distinct groups, winter and summer activities.
The winter sports that many people come to Glenwood for are skiing and snowboarding. The closest resort to Glenwood is Sunlight Mountain Resort. A small town resort with three lifts, it has terrain for both beginner and expert skiers and riders - it has a 2.5 mile beginner trail and the steepest inbound terrain in Colorado (Ute is 2.5 miles and The Heathen has a 52 degree pitch). Sunlight Mountain is only about 15 minutes from downtown Glenwood springs. Within an hours drive southeast lie the four resorts of Aspen/Snowmass. They are world renowned for their terrain, snow conditions, and high class amenities. Driving due east on Interstate 70, two other world class resorts will be found: Vail and Beaver Creek. Although their lift tickets are some of the most expensive in the world, anybody who has been there will say that it is worth every penny.
Glenwood has many summer activities as well. Some options include whitewater rafting biking, fishing, four wheeling, golf, paragliding, and camping. For information about the many hiking opportunities around Glenwood and all throughout Colorado, click here.
