Since the main monuments in and around
are generally in the mountains, the preferred form of transportation to the mountains is a 4-wheel drive or jeep vehicle. There are several places to rent SUVs in
. One should simply walk down the streets and research the best price and option. One should be weary of the quality and condition of the jeeps one rents; some companies may not spend much money to up-keep the vehicles and the last thing one wants is for a vehicle to break down en route. All that is required to rent is a credit card and a valid US or international driver’s license.
Another cheaper option for travel to the nearby mountains is to take a local bus leaving from the Terminal Terrestre bus station and then take a ride in a pick-up truck to the closest mount.
Also, there are organized tours that generally supply transportation. These tours again can be found by wandering through the main town; these vehicles are usually jeeps as well and sometimes are buses.
The best thing about
Baños is also that much of the local attractions are easily accessible by foot. All the spas and hot springs are located within walking distance of the city. Majority of the waterfalls are also the same. One can simply enjoy exploring the town and its wonders on foot.
