Kota Kinabalu is the capital of the state of Sabah and is also home to the tourism office which represents both town and state. Correspondence are quickly replied too and the staff are usually very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and efficient.
Visit http://www.sabahtourism.com/, available in languages of markets that visit Sabah most frequently.
Also visit http://www.tourismmalaysia.gov.my/en/... for info that rivals the state's tourism website.

The tourism board is housed in a white, colonial style building at 51 Gaya Street in Kota Kinabalu. Gaya Street is often mentioned in tourism brochures, as it's the most beautifully decorated street in the CBD, lined with trees and interesting eateries. The road run from the harbour side of the city into the library near centre of the CBD.
The office itself is located towards the harbour side of the city, near the hill that backs the city. It's very near the Jesselton Hotel, which is probably the nearest, well-known landmark, but taxi drivers will know were the office is. It's also walking distance from Wisma Merdeka.
