Things to do in Mangalore


Get up and head straight to Mangala stadium early morning for a nice brisk walk to start your day.

you could also try swimming at the Mangala Corporation pool  if walking is not your cup of tea... take time to meet and talk to the walkers / swimmers at mangala

know what they do, where they work, what are the places they'd recommend you visit in this city.,

after some exercise/ swimming, head straight for some awesome south indian Mangalorean Breakfast.. Idli/ Vada. Masala Dosa. Poori Kurma. Upit/Sheera @ any of the places like Hotel Woodlands/Taj Mahal/ Chutney at Deepa Comforts/ Indra Bhavan/ Abhinandan/ Manohar Vilas/ Suman Residency/ Utsava.

Done with breakfast, pick up a copy of the Times of India/ The Hindu/ Deccan Herald/ Indian Express and head straight back to your place for stay for some shower and change into someting very casual.

Visit the St Aloysius Chapel, Light house hill road in the morning.. the beautiful paintings of antonio mosselini are all over the chapel, being one of the famous tourist attractions that is right in the middle of the St aloysius college campus.. meet up with students of the college, and head out straight to have a brunch.. a glass of sugarcane juice and "Bhel Puri" that's served just outside the college.

from there take a rick to gokarna temple, beautiful.. or Mangala devi temple near bolar.

out of there sure u'll be hungry for some lunch..  there are many places that serve you great food.. suggest u try Hindu Military Hoteldont forget to order Chicken chilli and chicken sukka. great tasty local delicacies. right opposite you get some cut fruits of pineapple, watermelons for desserts.

once you've had you fill head straight to  Panambur Beach, try parasailing, speed boats, camel rides, fly a kite, taste a gola, cotton candys.

and get back into the city.. time for some shower, change and get out to grab a beer at "Froth on Top" there's also

G6 cafe, Liquid lounge, Jazz @Ocean Pearl, Kabab Studio @ Gold finch that you can try for some great evenings in Mangalore.

Dont forget to visit Natural's for a scoop of ice cream late nights before heading to your place for some rest.


Next morning, hire a innova and start out to visit "Moodabidri".. breakfast on the way at "Padivals".. then a visit to the  "thousand pillar temple" ,

next stop "Soans farm" amazing place, hospitable people taste the ripe pineapples, rambutans, talk to the hosts, and

head straight to"Karkala" after that to see the "Monolith of Bahubali" on top of the hill

once your seen the monolith, take the inner roads to "Manipal".. the educational capital.. have some lunch at "Hangyo saiba/ Manipal canteen/ Food courts/ Pizza hut" if thats your fancy.. take some time to vsit the "KMC Anatomy museum".. done with that take a walk to the "end point

after that before sunset make sure you reach the malpe beach, see the sunset

too tired.. then you could have dinner at malpe paradise isle, or on the way at Hotel Pallavi, Padubidri/ Bittu da Dhaba at Mulki/  Hotel Suraj International, Surathkal/  Hotel Sadanand, Surathkal, or even Highwave at Kottara Chowki.

Take rest for the night

 Next morning you could head straight for some fun at Manasa Water theme park, Pilikula, visit the Dr.Shivaram Karanth Biological Park, take a walk by the Piikula NIsarga Dhama,  get back to the city and have vegetarian thali - lunch at Janatha Deluxe for vegetarian, or even Pereira's Hotel for non veg.

Spend your afternoons at City Center Mall, shopping, Gaming, Spa, Bowling, Food Court.

Evening you have two options.. both out of town..

either visit  down south Someshwar beach at ullal, and have dinner at Summer Sands Beach resort.

or you could visit up north KREC Beach, Surathkal see the light house, have dinner at Hotel Suraj International, Surathkal/  Hotel Sadanand, Surathkal.


Visit the Old port of Mangalore, see the fish auctions, have some breakfast, go for an ayurvedic massage at ayur care, lad\yhill

after the massage, have a hot shower, go to Bharath mall visit big cinemas for a  latest movie, get out by noon and visit Village inn at Yeyyadi for some lunch. you could also try Sizzler ranch, Pizza Hut, Gazalee, Chiken Tikka halal,  Royal Darbar serves u authentic mughal cuisine read the reviews on Tripadvisor for your choice of restaurent. Do Remember to try Pork And Sannas. Yumm.

after lunch take a ride to visit

Sultan Batthery, a fort built by Mugal emperor Tipu Sultan, take a boat ride across to Tannirbhavi beach, spend your time at the beach and head back by boat to the batthery,

once your back in the main land head straight to Pabba's ice cream parlour, or Ideals you have to taste one of the many ice creams they dish out for you.. Ideal and pabbas is once place... have visited every week for having ice creams. Lot of options to choose from. Ideal Ice cream is world renowned.

night out in any of the restaurents, but after the ice creams if you think you are too full then go light on your tummy with some short eats at Chefs.

Day 4

spend your morning taking a walk in the by lanes of Balmatta road, market road, bendorewell junction shopping, have lunch at Bunder Narayana's HOtel, amazing Fish, or even Bombay Lucky Hotel or if wanna try economical ,hygenic and  home made style Authentic mangalorean sea food Curry and Fried Fish then donot miss Hotel Ruchi in Hampankatta Market Area near A.F.Dsouza . Note:open only for lunch.,

after noon head to Kadri Park  take a train ride, enjoy the floating grape juice, visit infant jesus shrine nearby, or even Kadri temple

and dinner as usual.. one of the many enchanting places in town,

remember.. mangalore is a small sleepy town.. you can get anywhere in 6 minutes.. all you need to shout in the middle of the road is "rickshaw" and the tuk tuk's stop to pick you up and drop you at your beck and call.. so enjoy you time.  Rickshawala are good.They dnt charge u anything extra other than the meter charge. Minimum 15 rupees.
