Tiong Bahru suburb is an interesting area to wander around.  The art-deco architecture is unique, there is a wonderful Hawker Centre and Market, many small local coffee shops and cafes, and new trendy boutiques, shops and cafes have opened in the area over the last few years.  The area is served by Tiong Bahru MRT station which connects to Tiong Bahru Plaza, a mid-range mall with many shops and dining options. There are many bus stops in the area so you can jump on a bus and explore.
