 There is always something happening in Cork and in the surrounding areas. Summer is a particularly good time to visit if you want to enjoy all the street entertainment and cultural value of the following festivals:


  • The Cork Midsummer Festival is an annual event that celebrates the local and national arts. This festival is ideal for those visitors who are interested in catching a local play, a dance or music performance. It's all accompanied by many other outdoor events that cater to everyone, families included. The festival runs from the June 15 to July 05. You can book tickets for most of the performances at the Festival Box Office in Merchant's Quay Shopping Centre.
  • Guiness Jazz Festival: This jazz festival has been taking place in Cork annually for thirty years and it has attracted some of the world's best jazz musicians like Ella Fitzgerald and Oscar Peterson. This festival is Ireland's biggest of its kind and it is one of the most respected in Europe. It lasts for a weekend, during which time more than a thousand musicians play at all times throughout the city. This event is also known as Europe's "friendliest jazz festival."
  • Music lovers, don't miss the West Cork Chamber Music Festival June 24 to July 2 at the Bantry House. This festival is famous throughout Europe and is known for exemplary performances by both Irish and international musicians. If you're visiting Cork in the summer, make sure to book tickets early for this premier event.

  • Kinsale Arts Week combines the performing arts with literature events and street entertainment. There is so much art and design work to marvel at here including fashion shows, video installations and poetry exhibits throughout town.This event takes place in July and offers over 50 activities for locals and visitors of all ages.
