To get from Hotel-to-Airport or Airport-to-Hotel you can....
  • Official taxis sell vouchers inside the airport for rides out of the airport to Cancun. It is recommended that you negotiate the fare before entering a taxi for your return trip to the airport.
  • The ADO Bus is the most economical ride back and forth to the Cancun Airport from the Downtown Bus station.  Tickets may be purchased 24 hours in advance.  All buses have air conditioning and luggage is stored underneath.  Once at the bus station,  walk to downtown hotels, take an R-1 Cancun city bus or a taxi to the Hotel Zone.

  • Use the airport shuttles for about $14 per person. Just like any other shuttle, the vans will wait until there are enough people and then depart for the hotel zone.  Everyone gets dropped off at their respective hotel, but if you are located on the northern end of the zone, it will take a little longer getting there. The good about the airport shuttles is that they are cheap if you have only 2 people.  If you have 3 or more you will be better off with a private transfer.  The bad about the airport shuttle is that it can take you up to 2 hours to get to your hotel.
  • Use a private transfer service that can be arranged before  arrival in Cancun . A private transfers drop off directly to the hotel.  They will meet passengers outside the airport building and be waiting with a sign with your name on it.  The convenience is knowing that everything is arranged already and you are taken directly to your hotel and that no one else is in the van.  You should check and see that they monitor your flights progress.  See if your flight is delayed they should still be there for you. The cost for 2 people is okay, but if you have 3 or more it will be more economical than the shuttles. • NOTE: February 1st, 2015, the state of Quintana Roo (Cancun, Playa Del Carmen, Cozumel, etc.) converted from Central Standard Time (CST) to the Eastern Standard Time (EST) zone. This means that flight arrival times will appear to be one hour later than when they were first quoted in Central time. Shuttle operators should be aware of this, but you may want to call and confirm that they know your actual arrival time in the new time zone.

  •  ** On your return flight home, arrive at the airport 3 hours BEFORE your time of departure.  Unless you typically fly first or business class, the lines for coach class tickets can be long -- especially on a Saturday afternoon.  You should also program your pickup at your hotel 3 hours + travel time from your hotel to the airport.  Doing this will make for a stress-free return home.
