Being that Puerto Rico is in the tropics, it is summer all year long, so in other words, the temperature changes very little from season to season. In fact, the average low in winter in the coastal areas is only about 69 degrees Farenheit, and up in the mountains it gets to about 55 degrees. This information may lead you to think that you will melt during your stay in Puerto Rico, but you couldn't be further from the truth. Why? Another positive for being in the tropics is that the temperature will never rise like where you come from. Amazingly, the RECORD high in Puerto Rico is only about 98 degrees! Some summers, however, temeratures can reach about 110 or more in the dry south coast.
Once more the fact of Puerto Rico being in the tropics is a reason for the amounts of rain to vary. Generally, in Puerto Rico and the tropics it is safe to say it rains everyday. Why? The biggest reason is the Trade Winds, the trade winds will pick up a stray shower that forms in the sea and bring it over land. These showers are generally very short and help to cool off the day. Unless you have some sort of system over the Island, you will never be rained out or have a rainy day.
Something curious to note is that the name hurricane, actually comes from the Indians that lived in Puerto Rico, the taino indians, whom thought a hurricane was an act of the evil god, Juracán. As you probably know, hurricanes in Puerto Rico are very common, but not something to avoid comming here over, as you can easily know when there will be a hurricane and plan ahead to avoid it.
But without a doubt, it doesnt matter when you come to Puerto Rico, because you are sure to have a wonderful time and a beautiful day. So come to Puerto Rico and find out why it's call it The Echanted Isle.
