My husband and I visit Cantera whenever we are in Germany. It's easy to reach by bus (5 mins walk from the station). You can choose between two saunas and one steam room and there are spacious showers and a room with comfy loungers to relax. There are also sun loungers outside. Not to mention that everything is made of marble (which the company sells and displays everywhere in the building). There are two cafés and affordable beauty treatments are on offer. The only thing missing is a water cooler. We went on a Wednesday noon and enjoyed the kiwi infusion (essence mixed with water which was poured over the heated rocks).
We went to the Italian café afterwards, but were disappointed with the quality of food. We had stayed in the hotel before (you can also book rooms at Cantera) and the breakfast had been superb. However, the snacks on offer were anything but exciting. We assumed that the kitchen was not fully staffed in the afternoon which limits the choices of freshly prepared food. Our paninis were a daring combination of poppy seed bread with mustard dressing, too much cheese and tomato slapped on. When we paid, we were asked if the food was to our liking to which we said no. We received a sauna voucher as a compensation. Ironically, this voucher was a 2for1 for women only, but we appreciate the gesture and goodwill they showed.
Cantera is always a quiet and relaxing place to come to and we'll certainly be back. Note that Tuesdays are women only. Bathrobes and towels are for hire for a small fee.
