“BEST part of our trip!”
Reviewed 29 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Nick and Anne were fantastic hosts at this cozy three bedroom cottage. It was exactly what we were looking for - a place where the kids could be free, run around, and explore. The location is fantastic - 10 minutes to Inch Beach, which we visited TWICE to swim and watch the surfers. We had a great time in Dingle (even in the rain!), and journeyed to the Gap of Dunloe - the cottage is in an easy location for excursions. Our children's best memory, however, are of the two very sweet donkeys, and the lovely dog and two cats who so wanted to join us in the cottage. The cottage itself is extremely comfortable - the kitchen had everything we needed (I cooked two meals and three breakfasts), washer/dryer worked brilliantly, and the oh-so-necessary sitting room where my husband and I retreated after putting the children to bed. Thank you to our wonderful hosts - we wish we had stayed two more days!!!! Todd and Kathleen

“Excellent stay in River Cottage”
Reviewed 18 January 2015 for a stay in December 2014

In the Christmas week we stayed at the River Cottage. Nice and cossy cottage, we loved the fire place, and make a fire every evening. The big kitchen with the oven was great, warm bread in the morning. We have done some trips with the car to the Dingle area. Also we have drive the ring of Kerry, also very beautiful. You need a car to go to the shop or a pub.

“Great location for exploring Kerry”
Reviewed 9 October 2013 for a stay in September 2013

This is a beautiful rental with all amenities-save for one, see below-and views that never end. We were here for three nights in September, and it worked well for what we wanted to do. It's located almost exactly between Dingle and Killarney, the two areas we wanted to focus on. We spent two days exploring Dingle and Slea Head, and one day visiting Killarney and the National Park there. Nice interior with lots of wood, comfortable den area with tv and movies, with sleeping areas on the second floor. Awesome surroundings with mountain and sea views, and animals just outside including sheep and donkeys. Super quiet, and great stargazing here.
The one point I should make is that if you are intent on spending a fair amount of time in Dingle or another major site, it can be a bit of a drive home, especially when returning late at night on narrow roads that you may not be familiar with.
I was surprised to learn on arrival that there was not wifi, except down the road at a store. I never thought to ask, perhaps we are so used to having access that it didn't even seem a question, but in my personal opinion, a top notch accommodation such as this should come with wifi. The need to attend to business and be in touch back home is there to some degree for nearly all travelers.

“Country idyll with modern comforts.”

We fell in love with Annie's Cottage the minute we set eyes on Elijah and Elisha, the donkeys. The cottage is beautifully appointed and generously equipped with DVDs and books to please a range of ages and tastes. Jasmine and Coco, the cats, vied with the sheepdog for sunny spots, draping themselves decoratively outside the cottage as warm breezes wafted through from the nearby sea carrying the sounds of the owners' small flock of sheep. Behind the cottage and the adjacent house, home to Nick and Ann and their family, rugged hills create a dramatic skyline. Nick and Ann were most helpful with suggestions for places to go and things to do. We wished we had booked a longer stay.... The house is a bit of a drive from Dingle, but well situated for touring the area by car or just relaxing and sunbathing in the grassy and sheltered yard.

Liked best: The rural ambience and peace and the location: we love the Dingle Peninsula.
Liked least: No WiFi - even my MiFi had trouble due to patchy Internet provision to the whole area.

“Fab stay - miss the sound of the stream already!”
Reviewed 12 May 2013 for a stay in May 2013

Me, my husband and our 2 year old son are just back from a week long stay in River Cottage, which is the smaller property situated just beside Annie's Cottage and also owned by Nick & Anne.

The cottage is amazing - it has a lot of the quaint old details that I would imagine most tourists are looking for in an Irish cottage, slate floors, fireplace, rocking chairs, old wooden doors, lots of books to peruse, four poster bed, a dresser full of china etc. It's also in a great location, very quiet, loads of space in the gardens or in the adjacent lane for a walk, lovely bubbling stream flowing right past the window but only 10 mins drive from Inch Beach, 20 mins from Dingle, 5 mins from shop / pub. And on top of all of that it has a lot of the mod cons you have at home, really good central heating, brilliant shower, Sky TV, microwave, washing machine etc. So all in all it combines peace and quiet, plenty of space and light, very friendly owners (& pets), great location for doing some sightseeing round Kerry / Dingle Peninsula and all of the discreet creature comforts that make things so much easier if you are traveling with a young child.

For Ireland as a whole, the price can seem a little on the steep side and it's definitely a good 30% more than you might pay for a similar property in a different area but as you'll see if you shop around, Kerry is very very popular with tourists from all around the world and it's a pricy county for both self-catering and hotels, so River Cottage offers amazing value for money in location and facilities on offer.

We'd definitely return in future - already missing the lovely stream outside the window and the views of the sea from the end of the driveway :))
