I've just stayed at Ings & had a fantastic weekend. Stayed for 2 nights (we booked for 3) with my Mum, Dad & Nanna (who has some mobility issues) & we all found it perfect.
The location is fantastic - a 5/10 minute drive to Keswick & 20 min drive from Penrith making it really easy to get about. & the fact that it was only 2 mins of tight country roads off the A road meant even my Mum didn't get stressed!
The cottage was spotless when we arrived & everything in good condition. The kitchen was stocked with all the cutlery, crockery & appliances you need. Which helped great with Saturday nights curry!
Although only 4 of us stayed the space in Ings is great - easily fit 10 people of not more. & lots of things to play, watch & see for kids as well as everyone else.
Overall had a great weekend. The only reason I didn't rate this a 5 overall was because on the Friday night when we arrived, although the heating was on it did take quite a while for the property to get warm. But by Saturday morning it was absolutely fine. I imagine there's not been many visitors around this time so may be why it took a little longer to warm up.
Nevertheless would definitely stay again.
My girlfriend booked here for a surprise 30th Birthday and invited a bunch of my friends along.
The property itself is to a high standard and the surroundings are beautiful.
Cooking facilities are fantastic and the cupboard well stocked with cups/glssses/cutlery
There are walking routes on the doorstep and a guide to help you choose.
It felt just like being at home and it was great to play board games available while having a few drinks.
We took advantage of the bluetooth speakers in the upstairs lounge, which was great.
Barbara (the property manager) was really efficient and answered any questions straight away.
The only negative was the upstairs shower wasn't always hot, however downstairs shower was brilliant.
Overall it deserves 5 stars and would definitely go back.
We just spent New Year at Ings and it could not have been better. The location was fabulous - just off the A66 and on the outskirts of Threlkeld village, so rural but not isolated. It is one of those rare places where the views are even better than the photographs can convey. The walking from the house is excellent and there is something for all - various members of our party did walks up Blencathra, Lonscale Fell and the lovely easy ramble to Keswick along the old railway path (as well as the stroll to the v good pub!).
The facilities were also great. We had plenty of room, the beds were warm and comfortable, and the kitchen was well-equipped if a little old (but the owner tells us it will be updated this year, which is even better). The washer and dryer served well, the property manager dropped off plenty of wood and we didn't want for anything except, perhaps, a pair of oven gloves. We have already booked to return and will now be thoroughly disappointed if we ever have to stay anywhere else in the Lake District.
