Stayed for 2 nights in a Terrace room, using the Living Social deal. This included the room, 50EUR credit to the spa or golf, breakfast and a tapas meal at La Bodega (next to the Tennis Centre, on the La Manga complex). The hotel itself was fine, but the meal at La Bodega was possibly the worst I have ever had. From our seat at the front of the restaurant, we watched the "Chef" microwave every single dish. When we queried this, the waiter said it was all fresh but was just being reheated! The grilled vegetables looked so revolting and overcooked that we couldn't bear to even try them. The stuffed peppers looked like tinned tomatoes, with something inside that may have once been cheese. The garlic chicken was all brown meat and was covered in steaming hot, overcooked potatoes. The Spanish omelette was so dry that it was inedible. When the waiter offered us an extra dish of (microwaved) prawns, we couldn't hide our horror and panic that food poisoning could be a distinct possibility. The waiter moved us on to dessert - a fruit salad that must have been stewing for days, and a dry and cloying cheesecake covered in squirty cream and chocolate sauce. The best thing about the meal was the bread and Manchego cheese - it was the only thing I thought might not make me ill! My advice is to go anywhere but La Bodega, even if you do get a free meal included. It's not worth the risk and over here it would be shut down by the food inspectors very quickly! Very disappointing and sad that La Manga can associate itself with such a dreadful place.
