We went there for dinner and it was really very good. I didn't stay there so can't comment about rooms however i tried food there 2-3 times and that's really very good.
Staff is also very friendly....

We have opted this hotel because it is adjacent to Palampur Bus Stand. Though we have taken standard room, the room was clean and spacious. There was 24 hours hot water facility in the room. We have not called for any room service so i can't comment on the same. Our stay was comfortable in the reasonable price.
The hotel is very good and safe place to stay. Being next to bus stand, it's easy to go anywhere nearby.The room was big, clean and comfortable. Service was excellent.The pricing is cheap. All in all it was wonderful stay here.
Hotel Highland is located opp Income tax office and point from where u can go to kangara or McLeod ganja or badrinath as near to bus stand those who are traveling by bus the best hotel in price band. Very gud food in house restaurant. WiFi speed gud. Parking just front of hotel.
Room size is good but the facility and service provided is poor. People travel to hill station for a leisure but the quality of service was not up to the satisfaction. WIFI service provided but the speed was very slow that it was merely working.
Having faith on the TA ranking we booked this hotel for 4 nights and end up cutting it short for 2 days. With the pricing standard the room rate wasn't any cheaper given the BnB nature of the business.
If you are a traveller who expects comfort, then this is not your place. If you just want a place to crash for the night then you are on the right path .
The place is inside the main market and the location doesn't give any credit. The images on the site of lush green mountains are another 40 km ahead. The hotel is cramped between 2 busy roads so your front view is a road and back view is a slum the noise of the traffic, mosquitos and street lights are more than enough to keep you awake throughout the night. The rooms are piled up with dust and even after reminders they wouldn't clean it up.
The hotel does NOT have AC neither elevators so don't keep your hopes up. And the weather pattern of this area required an AC as finally we slept in the balcony to get some sleep.
I'm surprised as to how this hotel ranked no. 1 on TA . If this rank is correct then Palampur to be avoided at any cost as a destination as there's practically nothing to visit.
The reviewer (a lady from Srilanka, claimed to be a senior advisor for Trip advisor) wanted her full refund on arriving at the hotel & Palampur in particular. The couple argued among themselves for half an hour and left without check-in and then returned back after about 3 hours ( after having searched at other hotels in Palampur).
We are a budget hotel with reasonable tarrif (Rs 700 to 1400 plus applicable taxes). One thing is to be clearly understood by the visitors that the ranking by trip advisor does not in any way change the category of the hotel (Some people mistake the ranking with category). It is all very clear in our website & the Tarrif displayed at the reception. The visitors should book the hotel directly to avoid agents commission and service charges However guests choose to book through agents and end up paying more than the hotel tarrif and demand the service for what they have paid to the agent. This couple expected an A.C. room. We are not equiped with A.C. at the moment (Was not really required till this summer) and the agents know evey detail of the hotel whether A.C. non A.C, budget class or star category.
The Male counter part (Indian) had all the praise for the hotel, its staff & Palampur except that they were feeling uncomfortable without A.C. and wanted to cut short their stay by two days. The standard terms & conditions of the hotel do not allow us to pay any refund (if cancelled within 7 days or during stay) however as a friendly gesture we refunded them 50% of their remaining stay.The guests expected 100% refund!! This was the main reason why the lady was upset and why not after all she claimed to be a Sen. advisor for Trip Advisor whose review will stay on top (They claimed so) and thus had all the rights to tarnish the image of the hotel !!!
