As mentioned by everyone, this is the only hotel near to the Gandikota Fort area. Nearest town is around 20KM from Gandikota, and the road becomes very dark during night. There is no sign of any other competitor coming up in near future. If you are planning a visit during weekend, then it is highly suggested to book rooms in advance through APTDC website. As the destination is becoming more and more popular, it is becoming near impossible to get rooms here during weekends.

Coming to the advantages of staying here:
1. The fort is walkable from the hotel.
2. Food is decent here. You may need to order in advanced. You get chilled cold drinks, water bottles, beers etc. in an inflated prices
3. The compound is big and maintained
4. Ample parking space available

Room details:
1. AC rooms costs 1800/-. Do book in advance through APTDC website
2. In the website, you cannot select extra bed. So, book for 2 and later you can ask for an extra bed. Do a search with even numbers. If you give odd, you might not get any result :)
3. Do not expect much from the rooms. AC is just OK. We booked 2 rooms, out of which for one, TV was not working. The bedsheets, blankets were not clean and torn
4. Bathroom was not quite neat. Basically nothing much to speak about the rooms, apart from the fact that they are independent and big. Nevertheless, good enough to spend one night and enjoy the beauty of Gandikota Fort
5. Checkout is 24 hours

There is mobile network problem here. Airtel, Jio, Voda usually don't get towers inside the rooms and in most of the hotel campus.

Room tip: you get a view of the fort from the room terrace

We booked Haritha hotel a month before the stay and our experience was not that great compared to other government run hotels. The staff doesn't understand any language except Telugu and the choice of food is very limited. The rooms were decent but lot of insects in the night. Lot of scope for improvement.

Haritha Gandikota is the only option to stay and eat at Gandikota as the nearest town Jammalamadugu is about 16-17 kms away (half an hour by auto). The only way to book it is to do so from APTDC website. Remember to carry two copies of the printout as they will take one and you can keep the other for your own reference.

The rooms are neat, have Daikin inverter ACs that cool the room pretty fast. Coming to food, the menu card shows a lot of options but most of them were not available, may be for the remoteness of the place. So choice of food was mostly limited to veg fried rice, egg fried rice, and jeera rice. Dosa / vada / upma is served as the breakfast.

The manager does not know a bit of Hindi or English so it is very difficult for north Indians to communicate. One of the hotel employees, Bhaskara, can still manage with a few broken Hindi / English words and may end up as your last resort to communicate if you are not versed in English.

If you do not have your own car and are arriving by train to Muddanur (station code MOO) like we did, it is better to take an auto to Gandikota which will cost about 400-500 rs. It will be better to book the same auto for your return trip to the station (whenever you make it) because the hotel staff can only arrange one Tata Magic car for you, and if that is booked you have to take a lot of trouble reaching Jammalamadugu / Muddanur.

Gandikota itself is a divine place, full of birds chirping, with a great view of the canyon of Pennar and relics of history all around. The hotel is at walkable distance from the fort / canyon, but the sun shines too hot in those parts of the country, so remember to start very early for the fort. Otherwise, walking in the sun may turn out to be very difficult.

Room tip: All rooms are similar, choice does not matter.

This is the only stay option for those visiting Gandikota. Ample space there in this hotel, it is cottage type with two rooms in every cottage. We can park our vehicle just in front of the cottage. Rooms are clean and neat and at budget prices.

Gandikota at walkable distance from this hotel. Have restaurant with limited items, there is no other option nearby to have food.

Check in was quick. Receptionist not speak English well but we can communicate. Cooperative staffs. They will ask for advance at check in time and refund later after reducing food cost. Overall a very good experience.
