Fabulous place, made our Christmas break special

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 26 Dec 2015via mobile
Booking was straightforward and simple, given we were in the UK the team answered all my questions promptly.

We arrived on my partners birthday. The reception lady wished him happy birthday, which was nice given it was booked a few months before.

We had a treehouse, it was wonderful, so much space and the views are stunning all around the complex. The noise of the insects is just hypnotic.

The night we arrived a new chef had started, he was very accommodating and attentive, throughout our stay . He had baked my partner a fabulous chocolate birthday cake as a special surprise (pictures attached). This was scrumptious.

The food throughout our four nights stay was lovely. All cooked to perfection. Christmas lunch was a buffet style starters and pudding, with a choice of hot served main. Quality of the food was constant and we certainly were stuffed. We would recommend the fillet steak, it was beautiful.

We ate in the restaurant on all the nights and had breakfast. For breakfast was a good selection too.

I arranged a spa treatment session (full works) with Natalie on Christmas Eve. She was very professional, friendly and put me at ease. Her massage certainly did the trick de-stressing for Christmas. I had a manicure and pedicure too. Which set me all up for Christmas day. I would highly recommend booking a treatment or two prior to your arrival.

I didn't use the main pool, but had a dip in the day Spa one on Christmas day, lovely views and very peaceful.

We didn't feel the need or want to go off the complex as we wanted to just relax and chill out, which we certainly did.

For added fun we also had the use of a golf buggy to go from the treehouse to the restaurant. My partner certainly loved driving it around.

We wouldn't hesitate in recommending this venue to stay, have a day Spa or just a meal at the restaurant. It was truly fantastic and made our Christmas 🎄.

This is the second time we've stayed here (about 4 years apart) and we've loved it each time. The first time we had the Executive Suite and this time we had a Garden Villa. Both room types are simply wonderful with everything done so beautifully.

A very quite, small, fully self-contained luxury resort set on the side of a ridge overlooking the Gold coast with no neighbours except for the birds and the wildlife. A top class restaurant and a superb spa are located in the grounds. A fantastic luxury resort in a beautiful location with stunning views. The staff are extremely helpful, very pleasant and very unobtrusive.

Highly recommended for a quiet romantic getaway.

Room tip: Garden Villa 2 "Bilby" is very good - private with good views but close to the bar, pool and restaurant.

We went here to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary during November.
The room - Garden Spa Suite - was beautiful and very comfortable.
We were unfortunately there on a weekend that was booked by large groups, so didn't get to experience the restaurant as normal, but were put in a private dining room. The staff were attentive, but one of our meals (Pork) was very dry (so much so that I didn't eat more than 2 bites) and when we provided feedback an alternative or discount on the meal wasn't offered. The other meal - steak - however was lovely, as were our entrees and dessert. No tea or coffee is offered in the restaurant for after dinner which we thought was strange.
Again, being there at the same time as a large group instead of being offered the normal breakfast menu we were only offered the same buffet that the group had had, which was pretty much gone by the time we got to the restaurant.
The pool area is lovely however quite small, and when one of the groups that was booked had a lunch function beside the pool we had to move from the area back to our room which was unfortunate and not what I would expect when paying over $400 a night for the resort.
All in all the staff were lovely and the room and surroundings were nice, however the experience was not as good as it could have been due to the bookings there at the same time. The 2 key features of the resort, being the pool and restaurant, were not available to us for the duration of our stay which was disappointing.

A recent decision to stay at this lodge proved to be a bad one. Whilst I had booked for 2 nights I only stayed for one. Room and meals were passable, the menu shown on their web site is only available for dinner with the lunch menu being very meager.
Service at all levels was poor to nonexistent due to staff being poorly trained and thin in number with a fare dash of rudeness thrown in. When your so called fresh linen isn't and the bar staff can't make a simple lemon lime & bitters you have to ask yourself why am I paying 5 star price for 2 star service these were but a few reasons why I chose to leave. There has been a recent owner change of this facility, and noting recent reviews this may be linked.

The decision to stay at this resort recently proved to be a bad one. Whilst the room was nice and the food adequate this was where it stopped. All aspects of service were poor to non existent due to the lack of available staff and there poor level of training. When you have staff manning a bar that can't even make a lemon lime and bitters you have to ask why am I paying 5 star prices and receiving 2 star service, this being just one example of many issues the least of which not the stained linen.
For anyone contemplating a stay at this establishment, I would not recommend it.

I was very disappointed with this venue, myself and twenty-six friends had lunch there recently. The organisation beforehand was thorough except they did not inform us that the road to the venue could not be negotiated with a bus! All guests had to transported up the hill by golf buggy. A new chef added to the confusion of the day and the meal was not what we had pre ordered. Service was very average and disappointing. The views are amazing and it could be a wonderful venue if run by a professional team.
