It's bigger, better and more interesting than the already high expectations you'll have based on the great reviews. The pictures don't make justice to this place.

We, three families with three under two-year-old kids, really enjoyed our stay at the Villa Mondello - amd not least thanks to the helpful hostess Francesca!

“Perfect spot to enjoy Tuscany with extended family”

We were a party of 6 adults and one small child, and stayed at the villa from May 17-24 2014. We booked well in advance (Aug 2013) as we were seeking the perfect location and property for this get together of our own extended family, and to provide a hub to go exploring areas of Tuscany
The villa is beautiful, very large grounds to explore. Being mid-May, weather was on the cooler side, but still sunny, we managed to use the pool once albeit still a little cool despite Francesca and her fathers endeavours to cover the pool each night and warm it up. The pool area is great to go and relax, and the large balcony areas off the kitchen/dining room were great for dining out too (breakfast, dinner). Our 3 year old enjoyed his stay too, searching for small lizards, using the small playground in the village, and discovering this ‘castle’
Views are expansive, price was excellent for our requirements (reduced rate when using 4 out of 6 rooms). Francesca was always very accommodating and helpful throughout. Enjoyed the cooking lesson/dinner experience on the Monday. There are plenty of 5 star reviews here, and we support that. For us, this was a great choice, and would be even more fabulous in the higher summer season.

“Pure luxury and family friendly!”
Reviewed 10 December 2014 for a stay in August 2013

We where three families from Iceland that rented the Villa Mondello the total of 12 people. We stayed there for 7 days from Friday till Friday in August 2013. Francesca greeted us when we arrived and from the first moment we felt like home. She showed us around and was on standby if anything was needed as she lived in the village just a walking distance away.
This was a huge place. Entrance to the villa was with tall electrical gates controlled by the key chain but you could also ring the doorbell to get in. This was not a problem at all except one day when I went running and came back and everyone where down by the pool so they did not hear the bell, so I just went to the bar close by for one beer.
The Villa was three floors but the first floor could be looked at as a half cellar but was with large windows partly built into a slope. Top floor had four bedrooms and a bathroom with a good massage bathtub. The ground floor had a very large kitchen with table for maybe 14 people. TV room and one bedroom that we let the teenager use and also a toilet. In the cellar or bottom floor was the dancing hall (as we called it) used for big parties probably or wedding. We had some dance parties there for the children in the evenings but usually did not use this area of the house as rest of it was enough.
Just a few meters below was the private swimming pool that was perfect in any way just a walking path over the lawn. The view from the pool was great and the pool house had a kitchen, refrigerator and a bathroom. A total paradise. I would recommend bringing some music to the pool as we had a Bose speaker and used it constantly to create a good pool atmosphere.
Francesca organized a cooking lesson one evening for us with a local cook that was running a restaurant nearby. In the lesson we covered the food culture in the area and it was quite interesting to know about the truffle mushrooms.
I would recommend to use devices to kill mosquitoes in every room, the more the better. We realised this a bit too late as we don't have mosquitoes in our country. But this is applicable for this area in Italy in the summertime so had nothing to do with the house. Also there is a great shopping mall close by that Francesca could give directions to.
This is a luxury stay and very family friendly.

“Beautiful Tuscan property, no detail left undone”

Villa Mondello was perfect for our family of 12. We were four couples and 4 children and so each couple had their own beautifully appointed bedroom and bath and the children shared two equally lovely rooms and shared a bath. The house absorbed us all. The pool area is resort lovely with incredible views. We ate outside most nights on the terrace allowing us to overlook the beautiful Casentino Valley. This area has a more rural feel than the Chianti region making our excursions almost tourist free except for Italians out and about. A highlight was the Poppi Castle and lunch nearby where some local people were having a wonderful party on a Sunday afternoon. We also went to the Porcini Mushroom Festival in a tiny local village and had a wonderful experience.

Francesca takes such pride in her home and really wants guests to enjoy themselves. She arranged a wonderful cooking lesson one night, gave tips and directions for our other days. The home reflects her talented family. Her mother did much of the art work, designed the hardwood and the frescoes - all amazing. It has old world charm but has all necessary modern conveniences. We definitely recommend Villa Mondello and would love to go back soon.

“Fabulous "grand" Villa with wonderful gardens and pool area surrounded by beautiful countryside.”

In June 2014 our family of 8 spent a week at Villa Mondello, we also holidayed there in 2013 and were more than happy to be back for a second visit. Our hostess Francesca was as charming as ever and had presented her beautiful villa immaculately once again. The swimming pool and pool area is superb with plenty of quality wooden sunbeds and a parasol to provide some relief from the strong Italian sun - maybe one more parasol would have come in handy? The villa bedrooms are well-appointed and beautifully furnished with a stunning view from every window and plenty of balconies for picture opportunities, the kitchen is well equipped and has a splendid dining area with a table large enough to accommodate many more than the 8 in our party.
All in all we would thoroughly recommend Villa Mondello.
