“Iconic location but hotel overpriced for what you get”
Reviewed 19 April 2012

This hotel is all about the iconic location, it is right across the road from Bondi beach. Having said that I feel it is overpriced for what you get. I had a side room & I could see he beach from the room which was great. My suite room 11 was spacious, the bedroom was separate to the living area which was nice but the carpet in places looked stained. I stayed on a Tuesday night & a wet miserable night at that & I could see how this could be a noisy spot, music from the downstairs bar area was easily heard from the 2nd floor. The bathroom was clean & well appointed it had a large bath.
We had a party of 8 for dinner at the restaurant & the meal was fabulous a really nice surprise. One negative was that they do not do breakfasts. Although there are lots of cafes close by that you can visit.
Another downside is there is no on site parking, you park a block away & walk. This is ok but in the rain is not much fun with luggage.

The main issue I had was that the staff were noisy outside my room at 7 am.

The price you pay for the room, I am not sure it met my expectations, I am unsure if I would stay here again.

This hotel is a wonderful little jewel! We had a penthouse ocean view room and it was breathtaking. The patio was enormous with an outdoor table, lounges/beds and an amazing view of the beach. The staff was also very helpful and assisted me with staging flowers and sparkling wine in the room to surprise my wife!

Room Tip: If you can afford the upgrade to the penthouse, DO IT!

As long as you understand what you're getting yourself in to, Ravesis is a wonderful place to stay in buzzing Bondi Beach. It is important to understand that Ravesis' 12 rooms are located above a busy bar on the corner of two main roads. During my stay I was not at all affected by noise but I was aware that it could be a problem - particularly at closing time around 1am or 2am as patrons pour out in to the street. ****This was not the case during my stay****. It lacks some common hotel facilities like lobby, gym etc.

I booked the cheaper Side View Room (Room 8 at $269 per night) and was delighted to discover I had stunning views of the beach from the well positioned arm chair in front of the windows. I could read the paper and gaze out the french doors to the stunning Bondi Beach. Great way to spend the weekend!! The only improvement would be if the bed was flipped around - then you'd have a view from the bed. I discussed this with the front desk staff and they said it had been brought up multiple times with management. I would think it was an obvious and easy fix, but regardless it was a nice room. The windows could also do with a set of shear curtains. The black out drapes are wonderful for sleeping but with them open you can see in to the room from the street.

I found the linen to be lovely, the bed was very comfortable, armchairs large and inviting, staff courteous. I left the doors open to the juliette balcony which, although I couldn't sit on it, was large enough for me to stand on and enjoy the view. The bathrooms are a little old fashioned but the shower (over the bath) was good - great pressure and plenty of hot water. There is no power point in the bathroom so I couldn't blow-dry my hair in front of the mirror but that's not a make or break for me.

If you are looking for a laid-back spot to enjoy a weekend break then this comes highly recommended. Just 10 minutes from Surry Hills and 15 from the CBD, you're close to everything but will feel miles away. Plenty of super cafes and restaurants on your doorstep - try Speedos or Le Paris Go for breakfast and North Bondi Italian for a long lazy lunch.

Accommodation in Sydney is notoriously expensive but this is pretty good value for money. I'll be back.

Room Tip: Side View Room 8 is practically beach front and has stunning views at a much lower rate that the Bea...

You pay for an unbeatable location at this hotel and get a large room, with chic decor that is now dated (80s style) and an unremarkable older style bathroom down a spiral staircase near the room door. There is no service to speak of, though the staff at the front desk are young, helpful and friendly. There are no real views to speak of, despite suggestions when booking that our deluxe room would enjoy beach vistas from the balcony. The noise from the pub below was well muffled on our floor with the larger deluxe rooms, so we could easily fall asleep with it. We loved our time here because the beach, restaurants, cafes, cliff top walk, shops and transport are right at the door. Given the lack of competition for luxury accommodation at Bondi Beach, I would stay here again for a change of scene and mini city Beach holiday.

Whilst Ravesi's advertises itself as a boutique 'hotel'; it has other facilities which make it an attractive destination including a public bar with wrap-around glass windows at the street/beach level, and on the first floor, a magnificent restaurant (also open to the public), with sweeping views across the bay of Bondi and beyond to the Pacific Ocean. You do not need to be staying at the hotel as an overnight guest to gain access to the public bar or the restaurant which more or less operate as 'separate' entities to the hotel itself whilst remaining an intimate part of the entire hotel and its atmosphere which is welcoming and refreshing. The views from the balcony of the first floor restaurant match the food and the service; consistently pleasing. The cuisine style is 'modern Australian' and like most of the more up-market restaurants in Sydney, the menu offering is altered seasonally. The menu selection is relatively small as is the kitchen/prep area, so there are limitations. A great place to take visitors to Sydney; for celebrations and special occasions or just getting together with friends and family. You can even just enjoy a scrummy bottle of wine and some 'nibblies' on the verandah so there is no need to have a meal as such. You will leave Ravesi's feeling uplifted by the food, the service and the views across magnificent Bondi Beach.
