We were recommended this restaurant by a Spaniard down our neck of the woods, said it was the best restaurant in Santa Pola. He recommended the pulpo then the queso calabres followed by whatever you want as a main, fish meat etc they are all good. We went with his recommendations. We chose the house red wine which was excellent choice. The pulpo was excellent very tasty. The cheese was good but too much, would probably have something else next time. We chose the buey de Mar. It was absolutely fantastic. It took us a long time to eat it and we were drooling over it. The brown meat was dressed beautifully and all the white meat was scrumptious, add a squeeze of lemon and some salt and you are in heaven.
Will definitely come back only 20 mins from our house so could become a favourite. Thank you to the staff who made the evening very pleasant and relaxing evening.

reading the reviews I decided to check if food is good. The octopus is very average, but it's their flagship dish. Big disappointment because in Spain I expected much better food than in this place. thank God there are more good restaurants in this town.

Narcea is one of the best restaurants in Santa Pola. We usually eat there a couple of times every year and we all ways return to Narcea with high expectations. That was the case when we a Tuesday night in february went there to celebrate me wife’s birtday.

Spanish winter nights could be quite cold even in Costa Blanca and it was very nice to step in to the warmth of the restaurant. As usual we where met by a cordial waiter and shown to our table.

The initial cava where cold and nice and a good companion as we studied the menu. The three of us shared three starters, a pulpo gallego, that is an eight armed octopus in the way they serv it in Galicia, gambas with garlic and chilli and clams seamenstyle. For us, who shared the starters, it was quite nice that they appeared on the table one at a time in a somewhat slow tempo. Together with aioli, tomato sauce and fresh bread they made a very promising start of our eating experience. Especially the gambas where very nice with lots of garlic and pieces of hot chilli. However, as usually in Spanish restaurants, the amount of food made us almost satisfied after the starters.

As main course two of us had entrecôte, however with different sauces. The goat cheese sauces was a great hit with a rich taste of cheese, the pepper sauce somewhat mild to our taste. The entrecôtes where thick and large and fried to perfection for us who like them bloody. Our third member hade a turbot file, small and delicate, also a very nice experience.

After the cava we drank the red vine of the house, very nice with the meat and surprisingly acceptable with turbot.

Afterwards two of us hade flan and one a Oruja tart, the latter a new experience to me, a cake flavoured with a grape liqueur. Both desserts proved to go well with the company. As the last part of our meal we where offered two different courtesy liqueurs, they probably saved our bellies.

In all an eceptionally nice eating experience, probably close to what many Michelin stared restaurants could offer. However Narcea is not the cheapest place in town, in total we paid 130€ plus tipping, but it felt as a fair price for this very special supper.

I have no complaints about the food, which as always was excellent. but this restaurant has not evolved, it is content to stay with what is safe, and predictable. The restaurant itself is dated, and could do with a face lift. and the staff goes through the motions, the whole place has a feeling of being jaded. With more new talented restaurants, opening in Santa Pola, and Alicante, this restaurant, will need to look to its laurels, or it will disappear...which will be sad, for the want of some innovation, and imagination.....
