This hotel has it all - a great overall modern design, good rooms, two nice restaurants and superb views over the Elbe plain. And pleasant staff.

Plus

Good views (from our 3rd floor room and, a bit better, from the 4th floor breakfast restaurant)
Nice little balcony per room.
Good supper, extensive German breakfast buffet.
Alcohol - there's an (almost too) extensive selection of beers (and water !) from one small local craft brewery plus some of the usual suspects
Free wifi.
Boat mooring, small swimming pool

Minus (just to be fussy, though these are points for improvement)

Not one but two potential gaps for a minibar in the room but ... No minibar (yet ?)
Leaky shower - two plastic strips appeared to be missing so water could go straight through the long 4mm wide gaps onto the bathroom floor. Ours got very wet before the problem was spotted.
Lots of heavy metal doors to open to get to your room - relics of the building's past maybe but some could surely have been removed without being in breach of fire regulations ... Just irritating to negotiate with luggage.

This hotel would fit in most of the world's trendy cities ... It's great in Dömitz too !

Room Tip: The higher. Rooms have better views

We enjoyed our stay very much, the room was comfortable and clean, we liked the interior design. Food in downstairs restuarant was ok. We loved the breakfast upstairs in the morning, great way to start the day. Dömitz is a lovely town, it is a very pretty area. Only thing that would have made the room better is a kettle and coffee making facilities.

this hotel is done with great creativity. we had a ver nice room at the very front of the hotel, but there will be views from every room. the restaurant is a bit average and the cafe on the top floor is for breakfast only during the week. stuff not always friendly . try to pursue with a smile, they warm up later. food ok, but a bit average. steaks good. good hotel for a stop during cycling . beach club next to the hotel can be fun if the weather is right !

Hotel Dömitzer Hafen is a nicely renovated harbour storehouse located in Dömitz, where the railway line Hamburg-Berlin once crossed the Elbe River. Location is good, not far from the town centre and still in a quiet area.

The Elbe railway bridge was destroyed in April 1945 and never rebuild. It became a sad symbol of the German partition. Until 1989 Dömitz was DDR Sperrgebiet, the infamous East-German restricted border area.

We chose Dömitzer Hafen Hotel as it had a customer satisfaction rate of 8.4 on a scale of 10 at hrs.com. We found that rating correct. Staffs are friendly. Hotel Dömitzer Hafen is a design hotel and it has a quiet atmosphere. The interior of the hotel is clean and furnished in the style of an ocean liner. The parking lot is huge and parking is free.

Our room, with walls styled as in an ocean liner’s cabin and relatively small, had a good bed, a satisfactory bathroom and was very clean. Complimentary mineral water on arrival. No coffee & tea making facility in the room.

The buffet style German breakfast was very good with a breathtaking view over the Elbe River from the upper floor. Cereals, fruit, yogurt, bread and pastries, eggs, cheese, coffee, tea and fresh juices.

The food in the restaurant is good, service was very friendly and correct.
