Stay May 27-June3 2017. What a trip! We stayed at the Mayan princess hotel which was excellent. Really good food, very nice comfy room and wonderful waitstaff.
This review is for the DIVE SHOP located on hotel premises:
We were greeted warmly by Edward, who went over rules and regulations, a tour and costs etc, before we began diving the next morning. The shop had rental equipment available, $125us for 1 week rental of all necessary equipment and $50us for 1 week of computer rental. With high Honduran tax 15% added of course, was still a great deal.
Dive equipment was kept in a locker, fresh tub for cleaning etc next to lockers. The locker/shop area was a short 2 minute walk to the beach. Reg/BC/tanks all taken to and from the boat, and readied for you before each dive- all you need to carry for yourself is your mask/fins/wetsuit.
The boats are parked In front of the resort, you wade to about chest height to climb aboard. Ride to most dive sites are less than 30 minutes!
Berry was our divemaster and Tedy our captain. Both were great! They help you on and off the boat. Water, baby shampoo, and watermelon are provided on the boat.
Our dives were LONG- about 60 minutes each. We met at 815 on the beach, and returned about 1230 after two dives. Afternoon (single) dive left about 145, so plenty of time for lunch. Afternoon boat returned about 330.
We saw plenty of turtles, eagle rays, sting rays, lobster and crab, tons of fish and beautiful coral that goes on forever. Our night dive was really cool, as was the deep dive to El Aguila at 110'.
We will definitely return to Mayan Princess to dive with Mayan Divers and highly recommend it to anyone else interested in a wonderful relaxed dive experience!
