“Fantastic vaeratile accommodation in lovely area with lots of added extras”
Reviewed 17 October 2018 for a stay in October 2018

We have just spent a long weekend at Babbingtons. There was 7 of us and what was so unusual was to find somewhere with 3 twin bedrooms. The cottage had everything you could possibly think you would need and more - the hostess trolley in the dining room was a great help.
The cottage was spacious, warm, clean and comfortable and we didn't expect the welcome pack with milk, eggs bread etc.

Thumbs up all round. We will be back.

“Wonderful Family Holiday”
Reviewed 4 September 2018 for a stay in August 2018

Babingtons is a beautiful country cottage about 2 miles from Coldstream. It was the perfect base for our family holiday and easily accommodated my family of 5. It's a bit of a drive to the beaches (50 mins each way) but there are plenty of local amenities within a handful of miles including steam train, heavy horses etc. to make short day trips possible.

The garden provided ample space for the 3 boys to run off some energy. We're real foodies so it was amazing to be told by the owner that we could help ourselves to the apples from the tree in the garden which, when combined with some blackberries from the lane, were delicious in some warming crumbles cooked in the aga style cooker. Maggie, the owner, was staying next door during the first week of our stay and she couldn't have been more hospitable - we will certainly be returning.

“A lovely cottage in beautiful, peaceful surroundings”
Reviewed 18 May 2018 for a stay in May 2018

I have been to Babingtons Cottage for the second time, and I enjoyed it at least as much as the first time. It is roomy and practical, very well kept, tastefully furnished and completely equipped, All is to a very high standard. The view is lovely, overlooking a scenery of tranquillity, for me an important attraction. I would also add that the garden is beautifully kept. You are obviously dependent on having a car, and there are a large number of easily reachable and interesting places to visit in the region. And if you are into traditional open-air activities, there are plenty of opporunities. Thoroughly recommended.

Reviewed 18 January 2018 for a stay in January 2018

I had a very happy few days in this charming cottage where every thought has been given to providing a comfortable and relaxing ambiance for guests. Set in the beautiful Border countryside and surrounded by a pretty garden, Babingtons is also situated conveniently close to many places of interest for all ages to visit and explore.

“A great pet friendly cottage with a rambling layout”
Reviewed 31 December 2017 for a stay in December 2017

We were very pleased with our stay at Babingtons Cottage. It is a rambling layout on a single floor with only a couple of steps up to two of the bedrooms and the second family room. Both family areas have fireplaces and a plentiful supply of wood so cheery fires are simple and easy. The kitchen is large and well supplied with all the cooking gadgets you might need, and the dining area is easily large enough to seat 8 or more.

Coldstream is quite near ( to 10 minutes by car) where you can find dining and a nice Co op market. Berwick Upon Tweed is only 30 minutes away by car is is well served from London by rail, so you can easily pickup and drop off additional friends or family members that might join you for part of your stay. Getting to Edinburgh is also simple and you can either catch the train from Berwick or drive to the Sheriff Hall Park and Ride on the outskirts of town for a quick and frequent bus ride into the old town center. Either way will take about 90 minutes from the time you leave the cottage.

Wifi is a bit slow and spotty but worked fine most nights for movie streaming. On the one night wifi simply couldn't stream for us we were able to use 4G on our phones. So we had no problems streaming Netflix or Amazon movies with our laptop hooked to the TV as we gathered round the fire. In fairness, it was very cold and quite damp on the night we had issues - so maybe that was the reason.

We had a great visit, and enjoyed having our pooch with us. Highly recommended.

Thank you for your very pleasing and helpful review. I am pleased you enjoyed your stay at the cottage and it met your expectations. Your information on travel to Edinburgh is very useful for future guests. Using the park and ride is definitely ideal to tour the old town & new town. Thank you again.
