Met friends for drinks and dinner in this newly refurbished pub. Great decor throughout and it looked liked lots of staff. We ordered food at 6pm and weren’t served until nearly 8pm. We didn’t order anything out of the ordinary and at 7.30pm I went to seek our food to be told one of the dishes was taking some time......a steak and ale pie?! Really! We weren’t kept informed and wished we’d cancelled the order. Food is only average and the service very very slow.

Indifferent food, only made palatable by lovely staff .The food was dull , tasteless and overcooked. The pastry on steak pie was so dry it couldn't been eaten ,tasteless burger was served with a salad that must have been tipped out of bag from a nearby supermarket , the duck came with one pale undercooked fondant potato and some broccoli , no sauce nothing to lift the dish and price tag that was an insult .
What a shame the super staff have to serve this food .
Won't be going back

We went with low expectations and surprised it was worst. It is a great pity that the friendliness and care of the waiting staff was let down by the quality and price of the food.

We went for a late Sunday lunch on Easter Sunday so we were not surprised that there were large parties in. The girl who took our reservation was very efficient and advised us to arrive five minuets earlier than our ideal to miss a pre booked large party.

We got a pleasing table and they accommodated our request to move to another. The decor is modern but perfectly acceptable and the wines perfectly drinkable. It is the food that is poor. Our starter or Brad and olives has some bread that was almost unchewable (although the olives were great) but our main course of lamb would not have been out f place at a school dinner table. The vegetables were tasteless and the cauliflower cheese devoid of other taste and texture.

There are so many better places in and around Sedgefield it is a pity that it lets itself down.

Visited this evening for couple of drinks. Why oh why! Do they personalityless bar staff insist on decanting out good prosecco into a stainless steel measuring tumbler into a glass instead of a flute This just drains bubbles from the prosecco and defeats the object of fizzy prosecco!! I discussed this with the young bar staff but he didn’t get it!! And to add insult to injury. This round was £2.00 more than same round as Hardwick hall .... roll on the opening of the new bar in sedgefield. Competition is a good thing!!!

Last time I was in this pub it was a few years ago and it has changed totally. Bar area is quite open but nicely decorated and dogs are allowed :)
