A delightfully authentic experience in the Cevennes at Generargues. Understated, no frills, excellent service. The rooms are retro, clearly well cared for and spotlessly clean. Top three best things about this place: the location (set in a gorgeous valley with easy access to some of the best spots in the area and also a pleasant drive from the sea), the view (they have a great terrace for dining outside) and the food (try the seafood terrine, it’s to die for). Will definitely stay here again when we come back next year. A real find, thank you.

ourselves and two friends called in on the off chance ,(no reservation ) this Saturday lunchtime ..
We were taken to a table on the terrace and the host looked after us perfectly and anyone not speaking French the host speaks perfect English , from taking our orders to serving an excellent lunch at a fair price .
Quite a find ,we shall return

No mini bar, no satellite TV, no room service, although a fellow guest came down to breakfast in her nightie and slippers without an eyebrow being raised. If you like Basil Fawlty, you'll hit it off with Michel and you'll find his partner, Rosa, more civil than Sybil.
The food's good too, with not a drop of brown windsor in sight.

Right in the heartland of southern France within easy reach of anything you want to do, this is wonderful value for money. An unpretentious auberge run by an accommodating couple it has everything you could wish for in its serene surroundings. There's no satellite TV or in-room telephones but that was actually a blessing to escape!

But bring / hire a car as there's so much to see in one of the most beautiful areas of France. We planned to stay five days but were enjoying ourselves so much that we ended up staying ten.
