My wife and I went back to the Cedars again this September. This was the second time after about a 15 year absence. What a quiet and enjoyable place to spend a week vacation especially in September after all the kids go back to school. We had visited some years ago when our 2 kids were small and this year we went back to the same cottage, #5. It was a bit big for us but our 2 grand sons came from Owen Sound to visit us for a night. Gary and Pippa are great owners, they want to make sure your visit is a positive one. The down side was the water level was low because of the lake of rain this summer but after a couple of days looking for those bass I found their hiding place. In about 45 minutes the trip was worth it, 4 large and 2 small mouth bass. Of course I let them all go to see another day. There are great restaurants in the area including Mylar and Lorettas in Singhamton. Short drive for a nice meal. Did not have time to go to the flying spatula this year but a good fast and cheap breakfast. If you brought all your groceries when you get their you would not need to leave. Gary and Pippa either have supplied or have on hand just about everything you need. Book early and go often. Can't say enough about this place, I just enjoy going there a looking at the view of the lake.

Excellent cottage resort. Clean modern cottage in excellent condition with all amenities. Entire resort picture perfect. Very affordable with boat rentals. Plan on returning next year. Forget Muskoka.

Room Tip: Knotty Cottage offers best privacy

We just returned from 3 nights and had an amazing time! We are a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children) We stayed in Cottage #2 which is right at the lake - breathtaking views of the water and sunsets! This cottage does have quite a bit of shade though but it didn't bother us one bit! This place has it ALL - literally! The cottage itself was a nice size, extremely clean and had everything that you could need. Our cottage had 2 bedrooms each with a double bed, as well as a pull out couch. You do have to bring your own bath/beach/hand towels though. It has a bbq right outside and they even have bbq utensils which is great. All the kitchen dishes and cutlery, paper towels, salt/pepper, oil, coffee maker, kettle, pots and pans, etc. etc. are all there. The firepit is private and steps from the beach. You buy firewood right there which is great. There is free wifi as well around the whole resort. The grounds itself are amazing and has everything one could ask for when on vacation. The heated outdoor pool was great. There is a playground with slides, swings, volleyball/badminton net and even a horse shoe pit! There is games room which has shuffleboard, billiards, air hockey, foosball and chess. There is even colouring books with crayons! There is also a washroom and washer/dryer in there as well. The beach was nice. They offer paddle boats, canoes and children's kayaks for free! You can also rent adult kayaks and motor boats if you want. The lake was very shallow when we were there so it wasn't great to swim in. We did take advantage of the boats though and even went out fishing - but because the lake was so shallow the fish were scarce. I was told that it is not always like that, its just because of the dry summer we had. There are chickens as well and you can get free range eggs in the morning, which were delicious! The office is also a little store that you can get things if you forgot (condiments, munchies, ice, worms, souviners, etc.) Gary and Pippa (the owners) are super friendly and you can definitely tell they take pride in their ownership! Gary gave us maps to get to the local waterfalls that were close by - a must see!!! We were sad to leave but are already planning our next vacation there next summer. If you are looking for a cottage to rent, this IS the place to go to!!

It was our third stay this summer at the Cedars resort. And every year we are amazed with improvements Pippa and Garry had been doing and amazing family friendly atmosphere they keep. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave you feel taken care of like the best friend or family member! My son, 12, said it was the best vacation ever, and he is well traveled. )) After all is not 5 stars accommodations that make you happy! ))
Place is extremely clean and well equipped. You do not have to care of bringing linings or anything that you need in the kitchen. Amazing views, fun time in the heated pool, fishing, canoeing, pedal boating, bbqing, fun evenings at the fire pits, fresh air and endless sky at night field with stars..... Add amazing trips to waterfalls and great food from bakeries and farmers market and will make you Ontario vacations perfect!
