Absolutely the most beautiful place I have ever been to and I have traveled everywhere. Naturally the views are more than stunning, but it is uphill so be prepared but it is definitely worth it. Cabin is simple and charming, very serene, peaceful environment.

Sean and his family were wonderful hosts! The cabin is even more gorgeous than the pictures. Everything was clean and comfortable. It was a true retreat - so quiet, peaceful, beautiful. There are not other tourists around, and the locals were so kind and friendly to us. It was very safe out in Kentucky; we were not worried for our safety or the safety of our items at all. We felt pampered and in paradise. Sean responded to our every need, and was so helpful in helping us prepare and plan our trip.

We cannot wait to stay at Good Hope again, and we are recommending to our friends and family to plan a trip soon!

Tips:
- We arranged a driver through Sean. He was wonderful!
- Get your meals (breakfast and dinner) from Good Hope. Sean's wife is an AMAZING cook, you will not regret it! They serve them to you right on your porch!
- Take a day trip to YS Falls (a driver, Ron, drove us), and spend the day. Do the waterfalls in the morning (less crowded) and lay out by the pools and swim in the afternoon. It is gorgeous!

Room Tip: Book the larger cabin - it has the best views, and a kitchen!

As far as I can tell, this is a one-of-a-kind place to stay in Jamaica. The cabins are situated 2,000 feet up in the mountains which provides a completely different experience from being on the coast. The hand-built cabins are simply fantastic. We stayed in the newer cabin, which is partially built on stilts so that it cantilevers out over the steep hill. Sitting on the patio you get an almost overpoweringly beautiful view of the surrounding tropical forest and the sea beyond. The air is filled with the sounds of songbirds. You really feel like you're in a magical treehouse, and the cabin we were in was beautifully built with a variety of tropical woods. It really gave the place a handmade feel. Sean and his wife were gracious, the food they prepared was delicious, and we even got to meet Sean's dad, who helped build the place. Sean gave us a ride up the mountain in his 4x4, which was an adventure in itself. The retreat truly is tucked away in the mountains so you feel like you're in a very unspoiled, natural place--so hard to find these days. Sitting on the patio gazing out over the forest and the sea is an experience not to be missed. Try to carve out a chunk of your vacation to get off the beach and up into the mountains--you won't be disappointed.

My fiancé and I stayed at Good Hope Retreat on our recent trip to Jamaica and we could not have been more pleased. I proposed to her on our last morning at the resort on the porch of our hut which overlooked the ocean. Good Hope was the perfect option for us to get out of the touristy, heavily traveled areas that people typically go to (not to mention, it was the perfect place to propose!)
A common misconception about Jamaica is that the non-touristy areas are unsafe. We found the exact opposite to be true. We stayed at an all-inclusive resort in Negril the second half of our vacation. We felt less safe in our all-inclusive than we did up in our secluded mountain retreat at Good Hope. We wished we would have stayed at Good Hope Retreat for our entire stay.Terry, Geneva and Shawn we very hospitable and a lot of fun to get to know. They really care for their guests and do everything they can to provide a good stay. The resort's driver, Ron, was one of the nicest person we've ever met. He had great travel tips, was a safe driver, and had a reasonable price.
When you stay at Good Hope, MAKE SURE to do the food option. Geneva and Shawn personally cook and deliver fresh, local food right to your private hut. It was, without a doubt, the best food we had on our trip. One thing to keep in mind about Good Hope Retreat is that it's a bit of a drive to area attractions since it is so secluded. However, we felt that the amazing views and the peacefulness far outweighed the travel time. It's great to get off the beaten path and experience something fundamentally different. Go stay at Good Hope Retreat! It will be a life changing experience.

Room Tip: All of their huts are nice and have amazing views. We stayed in their newest hut which was just finished recently. There's no AC, but the ocean breeze and cool mountain air makes for perfect temperatures.

My wife and I just got back from a vacation in Jamaica, and we had a blast!
We stayed in one of the most beautiful places I have ever been - the Good Hope Retreat: a gorgeous property located in a hill area overlooking the ocean where you are free to forget about busy city life, and have a chance to reconnect with yourself, your loved ones, and nature.
We spent three nights there in one of the beautiful, lovingly-built cabins on the property. Our cabin was two stories, and had a spacious front porch overlooking Jamaica's beautiful South Coast. Inside was a super comfy queen-sized bed, a sitting area, and downstairs bar and kitchen area with double doors leading outside to gorgeous greenery. The view from the porch was absolutely breathtaking, and we caught a nice cool breeze all day and night.
Our hosts, Sean, Geneva, Toby, Terry, and Melissia were absolutely fabulous, and made us feel at home from the very beginning with their warm and friendly hospitality. They really made our stay the best! The food was also incredible. Fresh, delicious, authentic, and best of all made with love.
Getting around was very easy as well. Sean took us to the local beach nearby, a natural spring, and all over the hills to show us the raw beauty of Jamaica. He also arranged our trip to the airport.
After our stay at Good Hope Retreat, we truly feel that the best way to see, feel, and love Jamaica is to experience it the way we did there - with beautiful Jamaican people, cuisine, and new friends in a place surrounded by nature, and run with utmost respect to the environment.
We will definitely be back for more. Good Hope family, we love you guys!
Love and peace
