This is stunningly beautiful and you really feel as if you are living in the rainforest. The nearest town isn't far though and we took a 40 minute taxi ride to the local surf town.

If thinking of getting married here the chapel is absolutely beautiful and in a separate area where all wedding guests can have rooms together. The staff were very friends, however we had long waits at reception some times to find a staff to change pool towels. Rooms were basic but adequate. Warning: do not leave your bathroom light on at night. We did by mistake and the next morning the bathroom was totally filled with what looked like flying ants! They are attracted to the light of course.

Overall, loved it and would like to return.

Room Tip: All much the same

The staff at the lodges are friendly, helpful and cheerful. The rooms are small but there is not much storage, the wardrobe is tiny, but as we were only there for 4 days on a Saga tour, this was not a problem for us. The gardens are beautiful with Iguanas, Jesus Christ Lizards and many species of beautiful birds including Scarlet Macaws, Toucans and Tanagers.
The food was wonderful as were the many drinks.

We travelled to Costa Rica as part of a Saga Tour. This hotel was the second stop on our itinerary. It appears to be in the middle of the rainforest in the middle of nowhere, but in reality is not a great distance from the nearest town. The rooms extend out from the reception area along the river valley in one direction and across the river in the opposite direction. These rooms are mainly bungalows in terraces. The accommodation was very comfortable, but somewhat basic. Our room had 2 large double beds with a cupboard. There was no wardrobe and if you required to hang up any clothes the only option was the back of the bathroom door. The restaurant, which was situated in the reception area, was open on 3 sides. The food was varied and enjoyable. There were two (I think) swimming pools, but we did not have time to use them. For those who fancy a wedding in the rainforest, there was a small chapel in the grounds.
The highlight of the stay were the grounds which were tastefully landscaped to fit in with the surrounding forests. At the far end of the grounds was a well-defined footpath which extended into the rainforest. Caution should be exercised when walking here because the snakes and other wild animals, although we had no problems in this respect. The wildlife in the grounds was varied, abundant and full of wonderful surprises. We loved our experience and would have gladly stayed longer.

Fantastic grounds full of wildlife. Accommodation in bungalow type rooms all very nice but with no where to hang any clothes. Food served in outdoor setting so beware and make sure you spray with mozzie spray on evenings, food buffet style but all very good. Nice little bar area for quiet drink and reflection on days activities, comparing sights and photos. Walked to small village of Tarcoles about 20 mins stroll whilst watching lots of birds.

Room Tip: Most rooms face pretty gardens

Quiet and secluded, the extensive grounds had many beautiful plants and a lot of different species of birds. From the open-air dining area, you can look out over a brook surrounded by large trees covered with bromeliads. Explore nearby trails or relax around the pool. It's also near the Carara National Park.
