Came for an early Tuesday night dinner. We were not disappointed!

Their dinner menu is a range of share plate options. They recommended two plates per person & that guestimate was accurate!

We ordered the Flash Fried Calamari, Baked Atlantic Salmon, Pan Fried Haloumi and Zucchini Quinoa Nuggets.

They brought the dishes out in the order they felt made sense from a taste perspective, so we started with the Calamari. Oh my - so so fresh and light and tasty!! Dusted with Lemon Myrtle and kibbled black pepper. Perfectly cooked, and the Chilli Lime Aoili with Rocket was the ideal accompaniment.

Next was the Haloumi - who doesn't love squeaky fried cheese? But seriously, the salsa of watermelon, coriander and mint with chilli oil drizzle that came with it - took this dish to another level! I could not believe how well it worked together!

Our third dish was the Zucchini quinoa nuggets. These came with spiced beluga lentils, daal and cucumber cashew raita. This dish, whilst good, did not stand up to the taste sensations of the rest of our options. It was good but not outstanding.

Our final share plate of Salmon certainly does meet their claim as being a signature dish! Oh my word, every morsel was fabulous! The salmon had been marinaded in a thai green curry, and was served with coconut mango rice and a tamarind dressing. Wow wow wow is all I can say!

And we enjoyed our meal with their house red - a Shiraz that was on happy hour special at $7 a glass (usually $8.50 a glass or $35 for the bottle) - and again, this red was thoroughly enjoyable!

All in all we had a fabulous dinner. Staff were attentive but also allowed us sufficient time to enjoy each dish before the next one came out. Can highly recommend this restaurant!!

Rubyos serves share plates of mostly reasonable quality food that is expensive for what you get. We were a group of six who did not all want to eat the same thing. Rubyos brings only one dish at a time to the table and, unless you order a banquet or are prepared to pay pro-rata as much again, the serves are all four pieces. That is, four succulent chicken tender loins for $27, then, say, four delicious small slices of beef ($27). The deconstructed duck pancakes were OK. The vegetarian waits for others to eat and then the meat eaters wait. Vegetables were almost $20 a plate. The calamari did have more than four pieces and were quite oily as were the soft-shell crab. The four fried halumi were tough. We discussed the one dish at a time rule with the waitperson and manager but there was no concession. Except that the manager did agree to bring the very well constructed and tasty desserts at the same time and generously threw in an extra dessert for the table. The kitchen seemed to close at 9:30 pm (Saturday night). A saving grace is that Rubyos allows BYO at a relatively small corkage charge.

I enjoyed the time because ambient was good. But, mark down on food, mostly was average with one or two exceptional dish. Dishes we didn't like - salad, chicken. Service - stressful Tuesday night, staff trying to throw all in the plate. Not worthy of paying higher price for average service and food. With all the previous reviews, we expected better.

Mmmm not quite sure where to start here. After being very spoilt at another venue I think I was in the mood to get blown away, but I wasn't. We optioned for the Celebration degustation. Sounded ok but I was a bit underwhelmed on some dishes. The spicy pumpkin salad looked like the salad mix was straight out of a Coles pre made salad bag..even brown bits on some of the lettuce leaves. The fish cakes with beetroot were ok, but way to much sauce. This was the case with a few other dishes too. Seemed to be a case of more is more as opposed to less is more. The chicken and beef dishes were very good. Look readers I'm being picky. The food was good as was the value $85 each which included wine.

I had the beef strips and my wife had the vegan arancini, We both shared a serving of chat potatoes. The servings were very generous and the food was delicious. Very prompt and friendly service as well as reasonable prices for both the food and the drinks.
