We were just passing through Maypole, and happened on The Prince Wales. Looked nice, and looked busy. I checked with the very polite girl behind the bar and good job, they are dog friendly in the bar area. Smelt and saw the food, and I couldn't help myself....I asked for the lunchtime menu. I thought it was a good menu. I decided it was fish on Friday, so ordered the beer battered cod with chips, and Mrs S. plumped for steak and ale pudding with potatoes and veg. Drinks were brought to the table. Food arrived and it was all very good. Mrs S. was delighted with her steak pudding...good suet pastry, fresh veg and plenty of tasty gravy. My fish and chips were delicious. Beautifully presented, with the veg and sauces served in little dishes. Very very good. A lot of establishments in other parts of the country, say for example Boldre, could learn a few things from The Prince. Well worth a visit. Oh yes and it was immaculately clean.

Been here in the past, decided to pop in for a drink and last minute stayed for dinner, setting, ambiance, staff and food was excellent, only wished we had planned the evening and stayed longer.

Super place, we will be back

came across this beautiful pub as I was exploring the local area (hoping to move down to Kent very soon) the food was excellent, the staff were very friendly whilst having a good sense of humour. My parents & partner loved it, the food was delicious! On our list to return again very soon. Highly recommended to all!
