We were staying at Prapetno in Tolmin Municipality and visited Tolmin Gorge, located at the lowest point of entry into the Triglav National Park.
As it was cold and rainy, there were a few visitors besides ourselves. This is a magnificent gorge with well set and well maintained trails. It is accessible and where there are steps, there are railings to help you. We are relatively fit seniors and we have no problem walking the 2 hr trail and enjoying the waterfalls, pool cascades, thermal cave and Devil's Bridge, taking lots of pictures along the way. It would not be advisable if you have mobility issues.
I have been to Mittenwald Leutasch Spirit Gorge, but Tolmin Gorge surpasses it with its size, and spectacular, enchanting beauty, and even a little mystical on a wet day. The crystal clear turquoise water on the cascades is a wonderful sight to behold.
This is a magnificent gem of nature and do make it as one of the places to visit in Slovenia. Well recommended.
