I felt someone needed to mourn the passing of this great museum of technology which was probably the best thing to come out of the town of Coalville in fifteen years. The determined efforts of one local politician saw the closure of this wonderful resource and the thwarting of all efforts to allow other interested groups to try and make a go of it once the LA announced their intention to withdraw funds. Yes, the local area needed new housing but to remove this facility was tantamount to political vandalism. Everything apart from the headstock will go (including the gimson beam engine) and one wonders if the overspend on the nearby Richard 111 attraction has had some impact. Well done all those who campaigned to keep it open and all those who contributed precious memorabilia to the enterprise. Sadly is no museum in the county now representing the great textile and other industries that made the county what it is today. Nor is there anything much remaining in Coalville to attract the passing tourist.

love this place
we went on the last day but it was still as good as it had ever been
theres lots of interative bits like lifting a car, making fire and other great stuff like that. theres other stuff like cars, fashion and mining too.
outside theres a big play area with a wet water bit which is very fun and some more interative bit as well as a slide and swings.
also theres mining tour and a train too.
staff are always freendly too
it is sad to see something so great go but it had a good run
