A very good place to visit if you are going to Savandurg, Road is good for bikers and nature enthusiast. Entry to the dam is restricted but you can find various places on the road from where you can view dam from distance. A good place close to Bangalore for a short drive/gateway for a day.

Good trip if you are looking for a short day trip from Bangalore... The drive is amazing than the destination as we were acquainted by butterflies all along the way after the highway... Dam is preserved with restricted access... But the view from top (check the picture for the view) is much better than reaching the water... Good serene place, uncommercial with lesser crowd and pollution but the weather is warmer than expected on October... Must check this place if you are driving near Savandurga hills or Big Banyan Tree...

Good hangout place with friends and families.
The best part is to look down to the water from nearby hilltop.
Can take a nice stoll once you reach near the cliff. Remember to carry food and beverages as there's a lack of shops in nearby area.

Calm and quiet place for a relaxed day out. Choose your day when its cloudy, so that heat will not be a factor of concern.Entry restricted from main gate, but just ahead of the main gate you will find a small pathway which leads you very close to the dam. Nice scenic view and a calm place

Going all by yourself won't help much because you may not have access to the dam at all. Instead choose to go with any of the trip organizers who have campsites around this place.
They will get to to the dam waters with adequate protection.
