The room was very sparcely furnitured with a small bed with no side tables. The bathroom was not kept in very good condition and the wardrobe was extremely small. The room was so cold during the night that it was unconfortable although the heat was turned up. On the positive side, the owner was friendly and the location is central. All in all the room was only worth half the price we payed.

The only hotel around, so no real competition to keep them on their toes, room wise it was on par with a Raddison I stayed at in Copenhagen. Functional but very basic.

Located right next to the park and main street with the restaurants so you can get out and about easily, Staff friendly

Breakfast is the continental fair, consisted of cereals, cold meats, cheese , boiled eggs & rolls, just have to get there early to get your pick.

The location and the extremely friendly staff makes up for the shortcomings of this provincial hotel. It is located by the newly refurbished square leading up to the brand new historical Danish castle centre, which opens in April 2014.

Staying here for three nights over Christmas was generally a pleasure. The new owner (July 2013) promises refurbishment of the rather tired rooms. They still have a faint whiff of cigaret smoke as the Danish smoking laws have been far less stringent than the British.

We had two rooms. One room had an issue with the ventilation in the windowless shower room, causing a musty smell after showering. There was evidence of the inevitable mould formation, but nothing a thorough bleach cleaning wouldn't get rid of. The ventilation in the other room was fine. The curtain did little to contain the spray from the powerful shower.

The room was also a little dusty.

That said, the rooms were a reasonable size and the beds were comfortable. A double bed is two large singles pushed together. All the rooms are at the back of the building so do not expect a fantastic view.

The TV was small and channels were limited to six Danish offerings, which generally show some English films during the evening, but unless you are a Danish speaker you will have to get the news from the net. We had free WiFi with very good reception and speed.

As is common in Europe there was no kettle in the room.

The hotel has a bar, but catering wise they only offer bed and breakfast. There is a good selection of cafes and restaurants nearby.

They have several conference rooms and occasionally they host large parties. There was none when we were there so I cannot comment on the noise levels when it is busy.

The breakfast room was modern and had a view towards the square. The breakfast itself was a continental affair with filter coffee, a selection of teas, juices and a buffet with a variety of warm fresh rolls, rye bread, cheeses and cut meats. In addition there were yogurt, mueslis and boiled eggs. Nothing cooked but as we were not expecting it we didn't miss it.

At Dkr. 800 for a double room with breakfast we will happily stay here again - and we are quite likely to.

Please be aware that in Denmark just about every international card transaction is subject to a small fee amounting to around 2.5%. This is likely to be in addition to your card company's charges.
