Abrahams garden is so beautiful and it is filled with so many different trees, shrubs and herbs. Abraham has good knowledge about all the plants and their possible uses. He is also just a really nice person to walk around with and chat. He won't make you feel like you are on a special tour with the purpose of making money. Its just so friendly and relaxed.

If you are a botanist or you are interested in spices and fruits and plants in general, this is the place to go!

I'm feeling like he is a friend and that I will come see him again. And after less then 2 hours of chatting!

Thank you Abraham

My parents and I visited Abraham's spice garden on our way back from a few days of trekking and wildlife in Periyar Nature reserve. Less than 30 minutes from Thekkady, its well worth a quick but insightful visit! Abraham is a gracious and extremely knowledgeable host and can speak very clear English. He walks you around his impressive spice garden- a melange of common and not-so common Indian spices, herbs, fruits and vegetables, all growing together in terrifically haphazard yet beautiful harmony. Abraham can tell you anything about the plants- their origin, Latin name, ideal growing climate, culinary and medicinal uses-- you name it! He is truly an expert and a joy to listen to! After the tour, you can go into his family's mini shop where you can buy various different masalas (tea, fish, tandoori, etc.), full spices (BEAUTIFUL green cardamoms), ground spices, chocolate, and different herbal remedies at very reasonable prices.

Overall, I would highly recommend a quick visit for this unique Kerala experience :)

Our views echo those of pretty much everyone else, I think. This is well worth the money and the time (it only takes an hour or so). Much, of course, depends on your guide, but ours was excellent and we learned so much about how spices grow and crop rotations/harvests and so on. Absolutely top notch and lots of fun.

Tenth time in India and the first occasion of not being pressed into buying something. The host's grandfather started this spice plantation in 1952.We really learned so much and for once, one didn't feel like we were treated like the usual tourist cash machine.Recommended by our hotel Greenwoods. Our tour operator was annoyed that we chose this one .Hats off to all.Go there...it's fascinating and inexpensive.

Thank ivor1
