In recent years this place received a real facelift. Very nice to spend few hours strolling around. There is a lot to see. The atmosphere is great. The main Street is full of small cozy cafes with local cuisuine. The bakery near Paytniski Gates is a must visit, fantasticaly tasty!

Despite the fact that, oddly enough, Kolomna is not part of the so-called Golden Ring of Russia (the oldest and most beautiful cities), it is one of the key historical places in Russia. Suffice it to say that in Kolomna took place a review of the united Russian military under the leadership of Dmitry Donskoy, who then defeated the Tatar-Mongol conquerors, which was a key milestone in the liberation of Russia from Tatar-Mongol Yoke. Come to Kolomna and touch the history!

I took the horse carriage tour, it was in Russian, I am not sure if they offer it in other languages; But not compulsory tho, you can read about the things I heard during the tour in the internet, nothing extra other than you are slowwwwly cruising in a horse carriage.
Come when it is warm, it is nice to sit around at the riverside and walk around the little village inside the Kremlin.
From here, you can walk to the Kalachnaya Museum through one of the tower gate.

I lived first 17 years of my life here, in Kolomna. And during 3-4 years I played tennis at the court exactly near the Kremlin wall. Thus, I could observe how it was being chanched recently: the administration of Kolomna protect our Kremlin more and more. It is very good that the town and ppeople living there value the hystory more and more.

Convenient and interesting if you have some knowledge of history. Otherwise all you see are walls (partially taken down) and a few towers. Should this be accompanied by some story or historical review it may become interesting.

It took 3 hours to reach Kolomna by car from Moscow (130 km). You can also reach by train in about 2 hours in a half.
The Kremlin is well conserved, a lot of towers an a small part of the wall. It is nice to walk in the area and strets inside the Kremlin knowing about the history of this interesting place.

Must see in Kolomna. It is not only the wall, but also the various churches and the museum inside the kremlin.

Not just the Kremlin, but some spots nearby are also interesting.
Nice atmosphere.
The main touristic spot in Kolomna.

The Kolomna Kremlin is a lovely place and even the weather (windy, snowy, rainy) could not really spoil our trip. The museum are all restored, exhibitions work and attract a great deal of tourists. Worth a visit - just go there when the weather is sunny and dry:)

Due to it location at the South-East of Moscow, Kolomna wasn't destroyed during Nazi invasion. It was no bomb shelling and street fights there. Thanks to it, we are able to see old Russian town in a way it should be. Charming and beautiful. Great views. 70 years of communist ruling wasn't as destructive as Second World War, but it d reflected in a tourist service quality. Unfortunately fine tuning is not a strong part of Kolomna.
But you may enjoy a good guide, fascinated with his work.
Kolomna is a great place for a day trip from Moscow.
