We spent 95 percent of our time on the patio – what an awesome view!.
We left home when it was -28c. When we arrived in Las Galeras it was 28c. Just a little shock to the system. The owner had arranged a taxi for us at the airport, and we drove right up to the door. The owner met us and gave us a tour of the house. He saved the best for last....the patio! The pictures do not give justice to the awesome view this location has. You can smell, hear and taste the ocean. It is stunning.
This is a semidetached home – the owner, Stefano, lives next door and is always available to help you whenever he can. The house is in excellent condition. Beds are comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need.
This is the nicest rental we have had in Dominican Republic so far. Its going to be hard to find something better. You may find more modern homes, but the view/location and response to guest needs make it award winning.
I will be honest, when everyone says it’s a short walk into town…..I wonder how short is short. We figured out it just less than a mile walking on quiet residential streets. For the beach lover, the walk is approx. 3 mins and the beach is outstanding.
Of the two weeks we were there, we only missed one day on the patio due to rain and wind. Oh well…..
We don't cook - we had coffee and cereal in the morning - on the patio. Went into town for lunch, then to the patio, then out for supper...back home with the sound of the ocean coming through the windows.
Just so you know, it is cooler being so close to the ocean. A welcome change after walking into town. One day we were actually cool.....then sun came out and solved that problem.
Food - several small convince stores make it easy to buy necessitates. None of the stores or restaurants take debit or credit cards. There is an ATM at the local bank which only gives you a daily total of 4,000 pesos. Restaurants that we frequented all served pizza and either French or Italian food. We had to go into Samana for a truly Spanish meal.
Overall a trip for us to remember. A place that we will be back to!
