My wife and I saved up to honeymoon to Jamaica, we saw the offer the hotel had and decided to book with TUI. TUI were great especially the two hotel reps Hyacinth and Lydia were always on hand to deal with anything.
The hotel was nice, rooms quite dated but suitable and the highlight was the sunset cove beach.
Now onto the important parts that ultimately ruined our honeymoon experience at the Grand Palladium. The food was the worst food I have ever had, the quality was below average and everything seemed over cooked, over salty or just inedible. It’s very clear that it wasn’t us just being fussy as lot of other brits were leaving full plates of food after one mouthful! Some were even ordering takeaways online as they hated the food so much. An Examples of the food not reaching expectations would be the crab sushi being made out of “seafood” sticks and another example the macaroni cheese being pasta tunes and nacho cheese sauce, these are just a few examples of the food at the resort.
On several occasions the wait time was not acceptable, those being at the fish restaurant waiting 2 hours for our drinks order to arrive and another with 1.5 hours waiting for our food to then receive the wrong order. On both occasions the restaurants weren’t particularly busy at all.
I spoke to 3 managers whilst there; Rodger the beverage manager, a nice gentleman who offered us a moonlight dinner as an apology - the gesture was lovely but unfortunately the food was not.
We also met a gentleman called Devon, he was very apologetic and was writing a log on the situation for somebody higher up to act apon.
And finnaly a gentleman called Marco Pena, he was possibly the rudest man I had ever spoke to in my life. I explained the waiting times and food quality situation to which he responded “that sound about normal, in a hotel this size we will always get complaints, now we are done”. Literally a 1 minute conversation that he then ended and as I went to speak again he shouted in my face “Go” and then told his staff that all seemed shocked by his behaviour to “not talk to this man he is done” I had never been spoken to so unprofessionally from a manager. He ruined our honeymoon and made a scene in the lobby all whilst I kept calm.
