My wife and I are still currently holidaying at the Grand Paladium Lady Hamilton celebrating our honeymoon. To say we are having a good time would be a lie. A large part of our holiday is the food and drink, that’s why we chose an inclusive resort with numerous different restaurants and eatery’s, these all being difference cuisines. Mexican, Italian, seafood etc these all sounding great and as big foodies we were so excited to try our favourite cuisines here; but this is currently our tenth day and we are yet to have one single good meal.

Talking to other guests from the UK, it’s clear we are not the only ones sharing these views. From self service appetisers at all of the A le carte restaurants to waiting two hours for a drink in the seafood restaurant, to say we are disappointed would be an understatement. We find it incomprehensible that the seafood at the buffet is much better than the seafood at the Poseidon restaurant, this goes for the pasta too. The sea food in the pasta was completely inedible as my wife could not even chew through it. The curry in the buffet was cooked well and had great flavour which compared to the onsite Indian restaurant with the butter chicken being what I can only explain as a tin of tomato soup with chunks of over cooked chicken in and “naan bread” was more like a greasy uncooked pizza.

My wife and I have really not enjoyed our honeymoon of which we saved up a lot of money for and what should be a magical time, but we wake up knowing we are in for a bad day with even worse food. Food and drink is such an important part of our holiday, particularly an all inclusive resort holiday. Rather than having another day filled with disappointing dining experiences, It’s at the point where we would rather stay in the room than go out for anything to eat.

We have complained numerous times to the guest relations desk and they have passed the message on to the superiors. On one instance we were introduced to Roger the food and beverage manager. Roger was very apologetic about the food situation and did offer us a complimentary moon light dinner on the beach. My wife and I really did appreciate this gesture and looked forward to it all day but unfortunately yet again the food was overcooked, over seasoned with poor quality ingredients for example artificial crab sticks in the sea food bisque. Something that at home in a five star rated place would be laughed at. However, the waiting staff Ingrid and Akhem were very attentive, friendly and personable, constantly engaging in conversation and filling our glasses. The service really was second to none and really was the highlight of our evening, but yet again the food was the low light. Both Roger and the Chef approached our table about the meal afterwards and asked about our thoughts to which we gave our honest feedback.

After many complaints about the food we finally met with someone from management, a lovely man called Devon. Devon was very apologetic and he is looking into the situation further to hopefully get us some compensation from our honeymoon.

On a positive note the sun set cove beach is absolutely beautiful and is absolutely the highlight of our holiday. It’s always clean and well maintained, has breath taking views and this is where we spent the majority of our holiday. The rooms are a decent size, despite being slightly out dated but are clean and have a large comfortable bed.

We hope anyone reading this review will benefit from our honest feedback. All in all, my wife and I were really excited to spend our honeymoon in Jamaica, it took us a while to save up but if we could go back in time and book somewhere else we would. The staff mentioned in this review all did a great job and we appreciate them listening to our concerns but ultimately to be served the quality of food we were served honeymoon or not was not acceptable.
