This is our first time at a Plataran resort and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The hotel has the view of Borobudur and Mt. Merapi- on a good day the view is absolutely stunning. If you want to skip the sunrise crowd at Borobudur, you can catch it right at the hotel (I’d recommend going to Level 3 of the Lobby building to have zero disruption). The staffs had the best service attitude - every single one of them. The food was delicious (we tried all the local options and all of them are recommended). Afternoon tea is quite a treat although I would recommend to add fruit as the “healthier” option.
The chanting five times a day did not concern us although it can be a little daunting if you are hearing it for the very first time.
If you are traveling with family (either small children or elderly), try to request for a villa nearer to the restaurant area. Otherwise it can be quite a steep walk up and down the hill!
Padma Spa was also gorgeous and was very much enjoyed with a Javanese massage.
There is also horse riding and mini-zoo. Plenty to do for our kids.
We also went to the Plataran Heritage for lunch one day and very much enjoyed the hotel and the food.
If you are considering whether to do the sunrise tour at Borobudur or not, it IS recommended.More
