Stayed for one night at this hotel. It is located away from the busy bus stand area. The rooms are of moderate size but tidy and clean. The Hotel is small with a decent size restaurant which served good food. There is no lobby area but the reception staff were polite and helpful.

The bar on the ground level garden area is popular with the local university students and you should expect some noise in the evenings. There is ample space available for parking of vehicles.

Room Tip: Please choose rooms on the left side on the first floor. You could negotiate the tariff at the time...

I end up writing one after my third satisfactory stay in Grand palace. Easy choice to pick in a small town like Chidambaram where there is hardly any second close option. Decent rooms, authentic food stuffs, appreciable level of service and fairly charged. Though i'm not so happy with the space factor of the rooms, I'm still pleased with the stay and service. I Would rate it beyond good and satisfactory.! Wish to extend my bondage with Chidambaram and G Palace .:)

Room Tip: Never poke your nose in others comfort zone :P

Due to last minute changes in my itinerary for the temple visits of Tamil Nadu, i was constrained to stay in this hotel. The location is pathetic as it is near to the railway station with lot of noise outside. Rooms are extremely small and bathroom ends the moment you enter it. North Indian Food is not available and even the south Indian food available is worthless. The room service is nothing to talk of , they are uncourteous, don't understand either English or Hindi and take a long long time to deliver the food. I had asked them for a wake call in the morning and they could not deliver even then. Most dirty place ever seen by me. Avoid this hotel at all costs, don't waste your hard earned money.

Room Tip: Avoid this hotel

We arrived at this hotel from the railway station as it is very close to it. That is where the benefits end. The room is tiny and cramped, the floor was so dirty we had to keep our shoes on. The bathroom was filthy with dirt over everything and had the smell that something had died. There is no information in the room about ANYTHING, something that is remarkable for a hotel in this price range, not even the extension numbers by the phone. We were told nothing on check in about any times etc. When we enquired about breakfast we were informed we had missed it, so whilst getting ready to head out for something to eat, three staff knocked at our door with a cold omelete, small watery juice and awful cheap soggy toast which was not ordered and we later found out was out complimentary breakfast. Whilst delivering too the staff hung around the door, staring in at myself in bed. This was not the only time this happened either. They had a habit of delivering and then coming back into the room again and again whilst staring away. Made me feel very uneasy, and totally inappropriate for a hotel that charges this amount. On the first day we also tried to order lunch with them, we got given an extremely grubby menu to order from, only to find out as we tried item after item that they had nothing on the menu apart from Dal and chapati. So why the menu?? The dal was watery and the chapati cold.
The staff are awful, the hotel is dirty, service is unheard of, food is barely available and what is is disgusting. I wouldn't have been happy if I had paid 200rps for this room, Avoid at all costs.
On our last day we went down to ask about tea at 8.45am only for the desk staff to try and charge for another day as they thought we had gone past our check out time . Totally avoiding our question, again acting on information they had failed to give us or attempt to give us. Generally following the pattern of incompetance again. This time though we had had enough, we happily packed up and headed onwards.

Room Tip: No such thing here. If you want a good room go elsewhere.
